Tracking down the Yor worlds one by one, aha

Terl, man you're on a roll today! (My favorite is the Western. )
Got some questions for those with more experience (or insight or observations skills) than I. Any and all help and advice will, as always, be greatly appreciated.
1. Do people in stasis on board transports or combat transports a) count towards population, and b) pay taxes? (Towards the end of my Gigantic game I was simply offloading them from an overcrowded planet, to ease morale, then deleting the transport so as to have one less item to click through when making my movement assignments. But now I'm concerned that I might have been shooting myself in my foot--or head!  )
2. Does length of game effect your score? In other words, if it takes me longer (as it did!) to wipe out the other civs, does my score get reduced over time?
3. Is it better (from a score standpoint) to capture a system or to vaporize it? (It certainly seems easier to vaporize it, but I'm not clear whether that 'loss of population and/or taxpayers is detrimental t my score.)
4. Generally, what are the other things that you can/should do to maximize your score? (Gotta admit that I was somewhat disappointed, after a weekend of sweating and struggle to finally conquer the gigantic map at a relatively high difficulty level, and come away with only 22K points. At the same time, it was absolutely a kick in the butt to struggle for that long, survive, and overcome! Totally a rush! )
Got permission from my wife to download and upgrade to AP, so hopefully I'll get that taken care of later today, and see what lies in store there!

Thanks. I was playing with a Gilligan finds a Yor... and I did have a Friend's episode with a guest star, XY-73....they are all still kicking around. I also had a Bonanza one at one point. Have to dust them off...

Hi Major D...
1. a..No. b..No. You also don't need to disband the transport - just put it on "guard" and it will be ignored each turn.
2. I don't think you lose points for a long game, just don't win before Jan 2190 as that will half the score.
3. Probably better to capture it, as a part of your score is based on population, but probably wouldn't make much difference in the long run.
4. Unfortunately... play Maso. There is a thread on scoring somewhere in the forums where our very own Theoden gives a very good breakdown. I'll try and find it and post the link for you.

Hmmm. Went to purchase GalCiv: AP and was slightly confused. The purchase option at the GalCiv site appears to show two options: 1) pre-purchase and DL when it is released, or 2) purchase Drengin.net and have access to it during beta. If I pre-purchase (option 1) will the beta be available for immediate DL, or do I have to go the Drengin.net route to have access to it now? Thanks in advance.

MagMan, thanks for your quick and informative responses to my multitude of questions. I hadn't yet learned how to use the Guard button, so that will be very helpful! Your post also reminded me of another question: to your knowledge, does morale factor into your score? (I was doing a terrific job of keeping my morale at virtually 100%, until I got into the "mop up" stage of my game. The vast distances, combined with my own inexperience and lack of proper planning, caused that to drag out for quite a while. During that time I sloughed off on offloading overpopulated systems and their morale was dropping down into the 50's.)
