I have a quick question. I pre-ordered the CD version and just wanted to see if anyone knew when it would be sent out? Thanx |
|
Naqmir, when you pre-ordered the CD did you also have the download available to you at that time? (Just wondering if there's any "hidden cost" to pre-ordering the CD.)

does morale factor into your score? |
|
Not that I'm aware of, directly - but it does affect other things that affect your score. Don't worry about morale dropping into the 50's as long as it doesn't go below 54%. With high population worlds, you won't get any benefit from higher morale other than nice big majorities in the elections. Pop growth is capped at 200million per turn per planet, so once a planet goes beyond 4 billion or so (if you have Aphrodisiac) there is no point striving for 100% morale. Likewise, tax income is capped at 4*PQ, so all those taxpayers being affected by morale doesn't matter either.

Naqmir, I doubt if the CD will go out until the final release candidate is fully tested.
Did you get a DN- type serial number when you pre-ordered? If so, try registering it in Stardock Central and see if you get the option.

MagMan, thanks for finding the scoring link. Very informative. (Reminds me of a story I heard about a sculptor. When asked how he created such realistic sculptings he replied that is was quite simple, "Just cut away anything that is not part of what you are sculpting!" Obviously, he could 'see' things that I could never see, and that is what made him the artist that he was. Now I just have to keep building on my GalCiv experience so that I can become a better artist!)
[Afterthought: I suppose the most direct analogy, for Guardians at least, is to simply cut away all the Yor, and whatever is left is art! ]

Wow, talk about divergent answers. Naqmir says that morale is one of the biggest contributors to score, and MagMan indicates that from his experience it isn't! Reminds of the flag of the fictional Duchy of Grand Fenwick (from the book, The Mouse That Roared), with a two-headed bird, one saying "Yea" and the other saying "Nay."

Magnumaniac- I may be wrong but i've been under the impression that the average moral of your population for the entire game is a large part of your score in the end? |
|
You may be right, but I can't say I've ever noticed it - then again, most of my games finish before huge populations create a morale problem and I nearly always finish with all worlds at 100%, although I usually have a period in mid-game where they're all in the 50's due to 100% taxation (you can pay for the benefit of my supreme leadership you scroungers ).
And who knows if the game was worth 60,000 or 600,000 in the end. Ugh, sorry to the writers out there, I know starting a sentence with a preposition is really awful grammar.

Is there any difference (edited - with regards to scoring) within the difficulty level for the levels that you set the AI for? For instance, a crippling game could have 1 incredible and 6 fool or 6 incredible and 1 genius.
BTW, I wouldn't recommend 1 incred/6 fool on a Huge/Gigantic map. If you don't take out the incredible AI up front, the other 6 AI players will surrender to him almost on contact...

No idea on that one GH, never tried it. I just prefer to play maso now with 7 "fools" (only a fool would let you park a TS right nextdoor and not say anything about it).

I may still go there, but I'm trying to see how far I can get without maso first. Putting off the day, so to speak. As been often said - you can never go back.

Sorry to be dense, but... I have successfully purchased, registered and downloaded GalCiv:AP ( ), and am attempting to create an archive copy. I noted that the file being downloaded was "gcx.zip" and had intended to burn a copy of that, but it does not appear to have persisted after the download and install was completed. Can someone point me in the right direction of what precisely I should be archiving at this point?
(For those familiar with Back to the Future, I suppose this means that "I am your density." Now if that isn't a scary thought, I don't know what is? )
