LW nice shield. Great to here from the Emporer. Just thinking about the game I played last night. Is there a way to caluclate the shortest period of time to get a research tech from the set spending screen. Magnu likes to set research so you get the tech as quickly as possible and nothing waisted. I was going from the tech screen to spend screen until I got it the slider right. The back and forth was not very time efficient so I gave up on that. Is there an easier way.

I read about this in one of the succession games threads that Realms Beyond. The other factor is that the estimated time to finish shown on the research screen does not include your research plusses (if any) from improvements. I do it the same way as you do.

I have the "start" of the answer...

When you move the slider for research, it changes the bc's spent on the upper right part of that screen. If you knew how much each tech cost, you could set your slider to generate the exact value needed. Don't know if there's a list available, but I'm sure someone came up with this before I did, so I bet there is...

Java scouts site has all the costs listed with the techs. Have to see if it is as simple as dividing that cost by the reseach bc's on the spending screen to hit the optimum.

Yes it is. But you need to include any research boni you have. It's called SiBCaT. Check out the RB succession game, game 5, shadow thread, page 3 I think.

That is the formula I was referring to above. They have a great breakdown and a good way of explaining the process. Thanks moose! I couldn't remember the acronym.

Where do I find the rb sucession games? I know I have found them before but I think I just followed someones link.

Hey ED, you'll soon get to know from experience what numbers you need for those early techs. They're fairly well engraved into my brain now. Aside from that, it's swap between the 2 screens unfortunately.

GH - I've set you a target. 53,320 for a crippling game - I could have got a few more for it if I could be bothered, and based on that I think it could be possible to get 60K for a crip, but you'd need a gigantic map. Interestingly, I had to do a lot more of my own research than normal because the "genius" AIs couldn't keep up and never had anything to trade.
It was quite good fun actually.

That's the thread that contains the links to the SG games. Very useful.

Congrats!!! With a 36K small and 43K medium on the books, I suspected that it would be possible to come quite close to 60K on huge.

How were your AI's set? What year did you end in? How many techs/wonders did you get? What was your avg. morale? Care to post a AAR in the Halls?

For a lot of my earlier Crip games, I had 2 Incredable and 5 normal or sub-normal races. The early challenge for me was making sure that it didn't turn into a 3 player maso with the 2 incr. AIs (or worse, the one strongest AI) absorbing everything else.

BTW: That is the record for a non-maso game by about 10K Congrats again

Those pirates and their vile postings.Good thing our last round post number has been claimed guarded by GH. Pirates don't stay around much when the good postings numbers are taken and there is no rum in the cupboard.

There is one for the Quote Master, if it could be put into context.

It was a minimum crippling (6 Genius, 1 incredible).

Managed to drag it out to about 2198 - but had to give the Arceans a system to keep them in the game that long as the last AI (they were the incredible).

Got as far as Avatar tech, with every previous tech researched before I got bored clicking "turn". Every wonder and TG except for Aphrodisiac and Tri-strontium steel I think.

Morale.... no idea, but it's usually high all the way through.

Hi Loth, things are good!

Trying to get a Guardian to be the first to crack a non-maso 60K. GH could be the one to do it. There's not many records left in the metaverse for us to break, so we've got to come up with our own.

I was even thinking about trying to get a cultural or tech win up to 60K, but don't know if I could stand the boredom of researching every tech in order to do it.

I could not do it in 1.13. Maybe in AP though.

BOOM!!! 69K away from Greldon!
