We've still got to get a few more into the top 25...

Im almost there, I noticed Theoden dropped out of the top 25 though

When you get there, save a space for me, huh?

I'll get there sooner or later (I hope) and I'll try to save a spot for you.

As to your questions, I rarley trade tech to the AI. Generally it's only whe they come to me with something they wnat from me. If it's a bad trade (I have Xeno Propoganda and they want to give me Weapons Theory) I don't trade. With my Diplomacy so high (Populists +20 and +60 pick) I will give them the tech they asked for and get stuff I want like, trade techs or propulsion.

And if that's is incoherent, blame these long necks laying about.

Non-cheese answer: Worry about GSE, Galactic Ex, and Resturant of Eternaty. RoE is Interstellar Marketing, don't recall the other 2, I think GSE is Adv. Trade which the AI goes for (at least the Altarians do). Diplo Trans you can't stop anyway, it comes from Diplomacy. Grav Accel are nice, but you can trade for them. IMHO, other trade goods are less important, and you can trade for them too.

#8679  by Citizen littlewotts_ - 4/18/2004 1:54:30 AM

I always try for Diplo Trans. If I don't I do trade for it, but that AI will be giving me trouble all game long. Plus the other AIs will get that 40% boost. I never trade the good to any AI if I get it. That ensures you have the advantage.

As for GSE, I almost never get it. Once in a while I get RoE, and generally get Propaganda Machine.

#8680  by Citizen Soul Sphere - 4/18/2004 1:54:52 AM

Diplo Trans is the most important TG if you don't have alot of diplomacy bonuses already. If you play the populist party and have +60% diplomacy ability I wouldn't worry about building Diplo Trans, just go straight for G.S.Exchange and other wonders that really boost influence. You can always get a trade good later by buying it, but you can't get a wonder, unless you acquire it by invading the planet it resides at I think?

Sorry. Don't work that way. Wish it did though.

You can get the wonder, but I don't think you get the bonus. Would make life much easier if you did! Here little Yor - build me a GSE!

I don't even use diplomacy in my games anymore, I use lots of influence, colonise, colonise, and more colonising. It means huge research benifits, huge population, huge money, huge influence, huge invasion fleets, and watch there planets become yours. I play abundant maps now also.

Hmmmm...

How do you manage the early game? I usually have the AI declairing war when I try that aproach.

When I read your answers the amazing thing is how many ways there are to play this game. When you read the creators words that is what he wanted. Maybe it turned out a little differently then planed. But one thing is for sure players have developed different ways of going about the game. Brilliant really.

Thats for sure ED!Thats the beauty of this game, my style is kind of a cross between Greldons, Loths, Theodens, and my own.

Bribes is one way. I also play with the AI set to PG or PE only. It looks like this Drengin=PE/Korx=PE/Yor=PE/Arceans=PE/Altarians=PG/Drath=PG/Torians=PG, and me PG, and believe me they have no trouble keeping themselves occupied with wars among themselves with no incentive from myself.

Wow, felt the booom all the way up here in Canada GH. Awsome. Night all. Another day, another billion Yor dead.

#8696  by Citizen Cliffracer Slayer - 4/18/2004 4:50:10 AM

Since all the Yor are now cowering on the opposite side of the galaxy, they're aren't any more billions of the blighters to destroy I'm afraid.

WTG Genghis. The masoverse had better watch out....

MC, tried your approach last night - had massive influence problems early on, but managed to turn it round for a win in the end without losing too many systems. Do you get the same problems early game? What level do you colonise down to... PQ14,13? I figure you need to take those to get a foothold in AI held space, but that's where the inf problems hit.

Time for an MC crankers guide I think.
