Hey GH, to answer your question in the SH, I don't thing a 60K Medium has been done yet. I just had another crack at it, but finished with 58,660.

I thinking getting 60K at medium is very doable. It would require gifting the last AI a planet every time it surrendered. I got 55990 at rare, medium, maso when the last AI surrendered its last planet and I had just gotten Overlord tech. I just don't have the patience to turn click for those extra 4010 points.

Wow, that's pushing the envelope. These were both maso on 1.49? Then it sounds like there should be about a 55K med crip out there.

Great update, GH, I have one small addition for it.....BOOM!

WTG GTR! Woo Hoo!

Welcome to the Masoverse!

Thank you very much, GH, beer's on me!

But, really, the credit more properly belongs to MM, his cranking guide made it so easy, the game nearly played itself.

I went with the Populists, and added +60 Diplo/+15 Morale/+5 PQ. As soon as my initial 4 ships(2 Scouts, 2 Colony Ships) were built, I switched to total research, until I'd gotten the basics, trading with every civ each new tech, picking up freighters as soon as they became available. I settled 3 other systems, nothing special, 2 15s and a 14.

Once I had the freighters, I set up trade routes, and used the extras as scouts, quickly finding all the other civs. After that stage, I maxed out the Social, until I'd gotten through the basic queue with the addition of Research Lab, then switched to 50% Social/50 % Research, occasionally maxing the Social to speed along a Wonder or TG, always keeping an eye out for trades.

When Jan. 2190 came up, I was at friendly or close with everyone but the Arceans, so I slipped them 50BCs for 99 mos., bumping them to Friendly and ran through a few more turns, stopped all ongoing wars for 50-75BCs for 99 mos., and started handing out the gifts. Unfortunately, there were only 6 Majors left....

Then, it was just a matter of ...click...BOOM!

Piece of cake.

Perspective for this week:

If the Canadian Star Federation and the European Alliance merged tonight, they would have 285 members and 2248 games to our 30 members and 1168 games. They would have 7,219,550 points to our 6,496,785 for a lead of 722,765 points. At our current pace, we would regain the lead in about a week!

A couple more observations:

1. I missed most of the Wonders, including GSE, but had all but one TG at the end.

2. After switching to 50/50, I set my taxes at 25% and left them there the majority of the game.

3. Though I considered an Alpha Strike or 2 to secure more territory, and thin the herd, I was curious to see if allying with all 7 opponents was possible, unfortunately, only 6 made it to the end. Alignments were set to default for the original races, and Neutral for the Drath and Korx.

4. Excepting Starship or Logistics related improvements, I built everything, everywhere.

5.Any ships I found surveying were routed to Sol for sentry duty.

6.On research; after picking up the majority of MMs suggestions, I concentrated on Morale or Diplomatic related techs, outside of a very few military techs, no other civ was really close to my level. And to be quite honest, I wasn't nearly as assidious in trading as I could have been, I plan on being a bit more careful with my next try.

That's an amazing observation, concerning the points standings, GH, it does indeed put things in a different perspective. With leaders such as we have here, the Guardian's continued dominance of the Metaverse is assured for generations to come.

Gentlemen, I am honored to be counted amongst the members of this most noble company, the Galactic Guardians!

Hey everyone. I posted this at the SH, but I will mention it here as well. I finally was able to come up with a job. I was holding out for my former employer to call me back, but it ain't gonna happen. While I'l be busier, I'll still be here and be posting some games. No more 'night shift' though.

Lothmorg submitted 10 games today!

And I was hoping you wouldn't notice.

I finally was able to come up with a job.

Woohoo!

Glad to be a part of this wonderful team!

Nice to see you working littlewotts. Glad you got a job. I am thinking about terror starring mine.

Congrats on the job, LW, hope you enjoy it.

Way to go, Lothmorg, you and Greldon keep resetting the bar!

Certainly sucks to drop 15k+ and only see my metaverse score go up by 4k. Uggg!

Even worse when it's 60k....

Alex

Morning Guardians. Another cold, wet, miserable day here in the UK.

Great report GH - hope you're saving all these and creating a journal, because I'm sure Theoden will want to use them on the Guardian's website.

Whoa, Gandalf - that was a nice big jump. Congrats on the BOOM. Yes, it is possible to ally with all 7 races, but kinda goes against our morals.

ED, you're not doing too bad yourself. Once you get AP it'll be 60K all the way (that's what you would get for a huge alliance win).

ABT - you need to get senate approval before using a TS, remember. If you get booted out of the diplos for it though, come on and join us - we don't mind.

WTG Littlewotts! Celebratory drink in the Grog called for I think.

Greldon, 7 games. Lothmorg, 10. Will you two JUST STOP IT! Reminds me of another time when 2 super-powers were playing the "we've got more missiles than you" game. Time for an "arms reduction" summit, where you agree to only submit 2 games a day each or something.

#8741  by Veteran Grand_Admiral_Thrawn - 4/19/2004 5:51:04 AM

Ah, don't worry. I'm a senator. I can start the poll myself.

And it sounds like somebody wants a piece of the top. Maybe everyone in the top 50 should take something, like a month off, except Slothrop and Dream Warrior. That should get myself, EE, and PP into the top 50.

Isn't that pretty much the norm for this time of year?

Greldon, 7 games. Lothmorg, 10

Oh boy.... I couldn't even get 10 games in a week with RL and such in the way. You two are awesome

Great news, littlewotts. Hopefully it is a job you will like.

Oh yeah, good morning to all

No, that's pretty much the norm for every time of the year.

Pirate mode on!!!

1 hour and 41 minutes without a post, nah, I have to fix that....

Renegades takes Terl's pen and writes "The Guardians are good!!! The Guardians are good!!! The Guardians are good!!!...

Mad Renegade casts the pen to the side!!! I hate this autoprogramed pens!!! They only write the opinion of the owner!!!

With his ego hurt by the faithfulness of the pen Renegade walks away with other souvenirs....

Pirate mod off!!!

Maybe everyone in the top 100, and Capricorn76 too.
I really want to give Base Delta Zero a delta of -1

Congrats, LW!

Just dropping in to let everyone know I'm still around! It was a busy weekend...the wife decided the pretty weather was a good excuse to work in the yard.

Oh, you all might find this humorous. I've got an interview for a job with the Roanoke Times, the newspaper in my city. Who was it that thought I should try there? Good call. I hope I get the position, but if I don't, I've got several other opportunities out there.

Think yourself lucky! My wife thought it was a good idea I did some gardening at the weekend aswell. Unfortunately, it was raining all weekend so I was very cold and wet by the time I finished each day.

One guess as to who got the brunt of my displeasure each evening.

So there will soon be a new column in the Roanoke Times hopefully - The Metaverse Review. Good luck with the interview Theoden.

Hey, hate to post and run but I've got to finish up some things around here and I'd like to sneak in a game of 'Kill the Yor' today, too!

Everybody have a great day!
