Hi everyone,

Alot to read and catch up on. I've been away for the last couple of days from playing GalCiv and participating in the forums. I'm very busy writing and learning my new course material. At the moment I'm outlining a sci-fi 4 book series I want to write in the future once I have learned more of this wonderful craft and written a few succesful short stories hopefully. Not only am I learning my course material I'm teaching myself proper English usage and grammar etc ... I would have never of thought that it would be this exciting though when I started it. Back to the story; it has been evolving in my head over the last 3 months and the idea had to finally come out before my head exploded with it. Now that it's out I can think up a few short story ideas for my course assignments.
Terl, I will submit the outline to you soon for your thoughts on it. I hope you will enjoy reading outline.

Now it's time to get a game or 2 in, that top 25 is looking sweet for the taking. Hopefully I can be in the top 25 before the end of the week.

LW, Theoden, and Greldon I left a message for you all in the S.H about your new jobs and happenings, I wish you all the best.

Congrats to everyone who deserves it, I don't have time to go through and thank you all individually. It's great to see some of the newer Guardian members really participating in the forums and the game. WTG Guardians.

Ok, here we go! I just trashed the game I was working on. Going straight by the book of MM's strat. Did a Maso too for the heck of it.

I must say that I am impressed. I am probably about halfway. Everyone is friendly or warm toward me and I've only been threatened once (which I rejected). I don't have a *single* military unit other then scouts and frieghters which scares me, but working fine so far. I actually have the most planets over everyone so if things get ugly I can go military. My production is awesome and I've traded for about every key military tech, just in case.

Here's to hoping things don't take a turn for the worse and I can finish it tomorrow and maybe get a 60k!

I am glad I can only play as often as I do. I still get a lot of points for my games, except for the last one. But I had been getting 10-15K a game.

I imagine I will run into your problems after a while.

Good job bonscott! Don't wory about the military. In this, GalCiv is much like other 4X games (and somewhat like RL). Economy always beats military!

I've carefully monitored morale and income, adjusting each turn to stay at 100% morale on all systems

Why do you want to stay at 100% morale on each planet?
If it is only for population growth, don't forget that at some point, there isn't any benefit to keep 100% moral on a planet since the caps growth is reached with lower morale (anything between 54 and 99 will giwe the caps growth depending on the population and the empire growth bonus).

I think we're talking early game here PP. The 6% growth helps get your pop (and therefore economy) growing. Agreed that once you hit the pop growth cap, you can let morale drop to around 60% quite safely.

yes but it is a very small effect: something like 1 -2 BC spent less if morale isn't 100%. Here are some examples:
