I wonder which is better: +10eco and +10research--- or +20 social.Not easy: +10 eco => more taxes => can increase spending rate => more social power or research power IF the spending rate isn't at 100%+10 research => more spending in research but could need to lower spending rate to avoid deficit +20 social => more spending for manufacturing social project (not sure if this lead to free manufacturing power) => need to lower rate when making social push, BUT they could last shorter => sooner to switch to 100% research.

However, with the social pick, he has the opportunity to raise diplomacy to +60.

opportunity to raise diplomacy to +60

I think that having diplomacy high is key. I doubt I'm good enough to play with out it. It's hard enough if I don't get the Diplo Trans.

Actually, our very own Naqmir holds that one I believe with 59,990.

Hehe - some of the other empires were getting really worried when there were 5 of us banging in the 60K games. They must be completely apopleptic by now.

I find the diplo trans is gone before I have built my 3rd colony ship. I just buy it later in the game.

Since I play on rare, I usually don't need many colony ships. I rush buy them, and have diplo trans building at 100% spending/ 100% social. I do go into the red at times, but I think it's worth it later.
