I usually don't need many colony ships.

How many colonies do you need for your strategy to work. I was playing rare on 1.2 sucessfully but could not find enough planest when upgraded to expansion. I don't like going in red as I think the AI's smell blood and come a calling.

Never even noticed we were close to it - but then it's not a rare occurrence in this thread after all.

ED - not IF, but definitely WHEN you hit 60K, it will be down to you. The strategy guides are just that - guides. You play the game, you win or lose. All I've done is collect together a few different ideas from around these forums and put them into one place for the benefit of the empire.

BTW, for any that might care, I like the Popularists, 60% Diplo, +1 Speed combo. I just hate waiting on my ships to get there. It also helps when there are two worlds close, but the AI was only thoughtful enough to build transports on one of them...

I think there are several good choices, and the question is "How much do you use what you pick?"

I usually have 3 colonies, maybe 4. Once I get diplo trans, I back down teh spending to get back in to the red, and I set spending to 15% mil, 25% soc, and 60% research. When I get to trading, I raise the spending back to 100% and if I want a TG or wonder I max out the social spending. I am building construtors at every colony, and if I find a PQ14, I'll build a colony ship at this time. Also, I colonize other planets in systems I already control.

I am using the Ancients Council Party, and +60% Diplo, and I think +20% Morale.

Look at it this way... You can kill the Yor or you can mutilate them... Much more satifying that way

It does look as if I am going to have to spend WAY too much time reading these posts though

Just took a quick look at the Meta. We now have 16

members in the top 200, 10 in the top 100, and 6 on page 1!

Thanks, GH (and everyone else, as well)! Have to admit that it feels a little like I'm cheating. Let's see: I don't have my second blue bar for games submitted yet; I don't have my 10- or 20-victory medals; and I still have to look up the Tech sequences to figure out how to get my morale builders, Wonders, TGs, et cetera. And yet here I am breathing the rarified air of the top 200!

(OK, enough waxing rhapsodical. Time to go wax some Yor! They're not just for breakfast, you know!

We still have to equal the SF record of 7 in the top 25, and then beat it (of course).

So.... as Droid and Mortis seem to have become inactive, that means Littlewotts and Genghis are the 2 that should have the honour of making the Guardians the undisputed greatest empire.

I find the diplo trans is gone before I have built my 3rd colony ship. I just buy it later in the game.

If I'm not mistaken, the AI you 'buy' the trade good from still has its benefits as well.

I agree, its matter of how you like to play the game. I, personally, couldn't live without +5 PQ, but I know several members like the speed, but I feel that is something you get rather easily through research and/or tech trade. Where as PQ is something you only get on the start, or until you get to terraformers, I believe.

Good evening to everyone! Just poped ion to say hi, just came back from work tired, my manager pis*ed me off so much that i am considereing living my job in next few months, actually just after i am going to be done with my exams.

In summer i would go full-time in some night club, would be great! Coz really i cant take it anymore,.. Italian pri**!!!

ED, MD you've got the best chances to bit me and get away with it, because i so dont have time to play any games! My only hope is when i am going to submit any game it woulg give my nice 10,000 metapionts! In my dreams!!!

GH, I think everyone's at their computers, wiping out the Yor, and trying to squeeze as many Guardians into the top 10, 25, and 100 as possible. (With the exception of the other empires who are futilely attempting to slow or stop the rush! Ha! Silly empires!
