One great thing about the GG's is it is open to all who wish to join, and you can play what ever difficulty or tactics you wish to use, and submit a game when you feel the desire to kill a few billion Yor. Everyone no matter what there ranking or points are treated equally when it comes to respect. Lots of forum participation and gaming will earn you a place in the Guardian ClonClaves through an election or the Emperor decides to chooses you, but no matter who you are or your level of particaption your welcome if you show the same respect in return. When I joined the GG's it was just before the clone wars, and the Guardians where in 8th position, Magnum just joined up about a week after me and we both were treated really well no matter our noobness and we were noobs once. Thats what I love about this empire, the same things GH and MD mentioned. I never thought this empire would be as successful as it is. I hope this empire stays the way it is with it's core values still intact and remain open to anyone who wishes to join. When you close the doors to new people you end up like the SF's, specially when your on top. You look like an elite empire and that turns people away. I know because I wanted to join the SF's since they were mostly Aussies and me being one as well I really wanted to join, but there NON-Open empire really turned me away. I'm glad it happened though, I've had so much fun in the GG's. I hope it stay's that way.

When i first joined the GG it was for 3 main reasons. First was Theoden. I had seen him around alot and knew he was willing to help like everyone here is. Second was that i didnt want to join the top empire. I wanted to have to work to get into first rather than just join the top empire and be there. And last was that it was open. I would have joined the Centurons but i didnt meet their requirments. Although limiting membership would make it more of an honor to be a Guardian (Which it truly is),I think it would be against the spirit of the Guardians.

I followed Theoden from FotR because it seemed at the time that Terl and I were the only active members in FotR. I'm fairly sure the Guardians will remain an open empire. The open door policy was/is crucial to making the empire what it is today. We'll choose who we want to be a Honorary Guardian, but anyone can choose to be a Guardian without prior approval.

Oh, I almost forgot.....BOOM!!!

Good night, everybody!

Just a closing thought before sleep. I have seen others post that you need to be a top empire to get new recruits. What I am noticing here is, like myself, several of us selected the GG because it was not the top empire. We all wanted to have a hand in its success. And that is why we are now the top empire! And as long as we have members that want it to be the best, it shall remain so!

Good night Guardians!

I want just add a little thing about metaverse scoring: don't forget that TG/Wonders give you some hundred point each. I have seen some difference in games (going from 52K to 54K) I have submitted with 1.2 january 2190 alliance victory on gigantic maso.

Could surely help if you are missing some Mpts to get 60K

I'm fairly sure the Guardians will remain an open empire.

And so it should I believe. I was actually thinking of something along the same lines as Attila last night, but came to the same conclusions as the others here.

We are currently the No.1 empire, so that will make us appeal to some people, and not to others. We have less members than a lot of the other empires - some of those may come back with AP (Ray the Wanderer looks like a returnee right now), and may start to exert some pressure on us - The Jedi for one have recently upped their activity level, and The Diplomats are putting out a strong recruiting message.

As long as we hold to the same principles of equal treatment for all members, regardless of ability level, then we will be OK. The bottom line is, it's up to the other empires to find a way to catch us - not for us to put restrictions on ourselves (although I do think we should place a restriction on the amount of games Greldon and Loth are allowed to submit ).

To much evil getting around in the Guardians

In Lothmorg's absence, as the ranking evil knight I say to you MC....

BAH!

Evil is fun! The Dark Side is far superior. I'll keep my occasional +40% PQ and production bonuses thankyou, and Life Force Power is very useful You can keep your Trade Centers, and go and cuddle up to the pathetically goody-goody Altarians, and bouncy-ball sushi sticks (they really stink when they hit the death furnaces of my Drengin friends, you know).

Come on down, all you Guardians. Feel the power of The Dark Side. Get rid of that sickly blue smiley. Enjoy yourselves for a change.

Hummm... Only 2 pages to catch up on...

And a fine dicussion too.

So from an outsider's point of view. You should remain open... I understand the idea and desire about fostering competition, by place restrictions, but the G-men are where they are because of the comunity that you have created. The desire to have 'fun' both with the game and with group is the how you've done this. And that requires an open door policy I think.

Just my 2 BCs.

Hi all! Did I miss anything important in here?

#9390  by Veteran Theoden of Rohan - 4/26/2004 10:23:45 AM

Good Morning everyone!

First, I'd like to congratulate all Guardians who participated in the ANZAC Day festivities. The ANZACs were friends to everyone and deserved a special sendoff. They will be missed.

Second, in regards to Attila's suggestion for closing the Guardians to new members: I like the fact that you're trying to come up with ways of increasing competition! I myself have been a strong supporter of Metaverse competition. But closing the Guardians isn't the best way to go about it. Our success has been largely dependent on the fact that we are an open, free, and friendly empire who does everything we can to help anyone in need (except Yor! ) I learned this lesson from the fine folks in the Fellowship and knew that any empire that strived to help and aid everyone would be successful. Now, we are in first place by a wide margin. And yet, we're still playing and still active, unlike many of the empires who reached first. I think it's because we all genuinely like each other and we have fun competing amongst ourselves. We still have a reason to play the game. And that is a wonderful situation. I have said this several times, activity is going to grow when AP is officially released. We actually should be wary of another "Guardian"-type empire who is just as successful as we are. There are many fantastic players out there just waiting to join an empire to challenge for first. It could be GROSS, the Fellowship, the Diplomats or an entirely new empire! But I don't think we are as safe as we think!

I'm pretty busy today, so I'm going to head out. Thank you all for your participation in the Guardians.

Without all of you, it'd just be me.

Just kidding...you guys are the best. It's a pleasure having all of you in the empire!

See everyone later!

As you know the kind Guardians were busy giving me Yor parts. Being a Technician I have been trying to make them alittle less annoying.

See how they look...
