Congratulations, MD!

Theoden, thank you very much! I (and I'm sure I speak for 'we') really appreciate your work on the website--particularly considering that intrusive RL thing that keeps getting in the way of GalCiv time! (Speaking of RL, any follow-up word from the interview?)

Major: Outstanding...4 games in one day!

Thanks, Greldon. In my time zone it was 6, but 2 rolled over to today (you know, Galactic Metaverse Time and all that ), but now I guess I've got a 2-game head start on today's count, eh? (Cover your ears GH, you weren't supposed to hear that!)

You are all cordially invited to participate in the crowning of Lord SPAM (AKA The Renegade) as Honorary Spammer of the Guardians Empire.

This celebration will take place in the Greldon's private ranch at the foothills of Greldon Mountain National Park in Greldon County, 55 miles North of Greldonsburg.

So all the Guardians are invited to this unique event.!!!!

Lord Spam sits all alone on a little hilltop waiting for the guests that shall never arrive. He is alone in his joy at being named a spammer.

I seem to recall reading a post about a retirement and a mention in that same post that the retiree would not be about the forums much. I guess that old adage is right, one cannot believe all that one reads.

Nice to see you back Terl. As you can see, things haven't changed much.

Decided to make the Jump to AP. Well if I can ever get it. Bought Dregin.net because I was gonna spend 20 may as well spend 40 kinda thing. Can't find a place to download AP though. Kinda frustrating, since that is why I did it in the first place.

Have you suceeded yet AS?

The thing I had troulbe with is you have to registar the game before it shows up. So you go to registar area 1st (drop down menu) registar then go to the games area and make sure the little button on bottom left. pre-release versions in checked.

Thanks. I've just been quite busy with work lately.

I have checked in to stay current when I could and noticed that Mr Pirate is back already from his short lived retirement. "I'd like spam, spam, eggs, bacon, and spam please."

MD whats going on. Did you take some time off to spend with your motherinlaw and now you have turned it into rise to the top of the metaverse time. Go spend some quality time with your motherinlaw and get off this game or go back to work, one or the other. PLEASE

Terl, great to see you! Missed you, missed your creative writing, and missed you! (Not unlike "spam, eggs, and spam," I suppose. Wait a minute, now that makes it sound like I'm comparing you to spam! Not my intent! Well, the rule of analogies is that every analogy breaks down at some point--mine just broke down very early!)

[Insert more blubbering like an idiot here.]

It's great to see you!

Honorary Spammer of the Guardians Empire.

Great Title. Of course you know us Spammers tend to be from other Empires while Guardians are not here they are racking up the Masos.

ED, I knew I was going to get in trouble with you, but I just couldn't help myself! Every time I turned around there were more Yor, and my Guardian instincts kicked in and, well, there you have it! (I could make some asinine mother-in-law jokes, but the truth is I have a great mother-in-law!)

Truth is, was having a blast, and got on a roll! Kind of, "in the flow," if you know what I mean. Want to try something different today, playing around with the other victory conditions, but attempting a 60K with each. (While over at the Senate Halls--shining my Top 100 medal--I noticed that the Guardians have a medal gathering at least one of each of the victory types. Thought it would be cool to play with that! We'll see.)

[Edit: Do you have any idea how long it took me to find 'asinine' in the dictionary?! I was expecting two s's, an 'a' instead of the first 'i', and so forth. Man, it's a great word but like so many others it doesn't exactly spell easily!]

Bye Terl.

Danged pirate restaurants! All they ever have is spam, and the cooks never retire though they say they do

Good luck... I think a cultural 60K would be possible on a gigantic map (not gonna try it myself until I've got the new PC built, as gig's take forever), but you'll be hard pressed to get 60K from a tech win.

Well I'm out the door for the day - mucho beero courtesy of Hewlett Packard in store for tonight.

Please don't shout tomorrow morning, I may be a little on the fragile side.

At least we can rest assured that the spam isn't recycled Yor--I had to pick a few feathers out of mine this morning.

Say, anyone seen Renegade's parrot lately?

On a serious note (boy, am I ever gonna get in trouble for introducing a serious note!), got a few questions about the alternate victory conditions. I've already got a few military and alliance victories under my belt. And cultural seems obvious to me (since I used the cultural-turned-off, culture-flipping strategy to get one or two of my early military victories). But I'm wondering how to achieve Beyond Human without accidentally flipping all of my opponents? I don't believe you can turn off military, so do you end up having to 'gift' planets to one remaining opponent until you have completed the tech tree?

I have read somewhere in these forums that you may have to gift planets to keep them going.

Thanks, Terl! And I forgot to ask my other question: is it possible to score 60K on cultural and Beyond Human victory conditions, and if so what needs to be true (e.g., gigantic, maso, all/most wonders, et cetera)?

Read magnum post 4 above. He does not think so. I did one beyond human at the low level and found it real boring. Takes along time to get through that tech tree. The last techs take lots of time but my understanding of the game was low. Now I would research all the research bonus techs. Trade with the AI so they kept up with me tech wise so they would be helping spread the research. Go for it. Theo will give you a nice All Victory condition Metal.

Well if all the good names were gone and you had to name yourself after John Travolta's character, (who ended up being responsible for the death of his homeworld and locked up in fort knox) in one of the worst Sci-fi movies ever (Battlefield, Earth) well then you might understand Terl's bitterness. Just admitting I watched it gives me a sour attitude.

Perhaps next time, you should order the Arcean Ribs, The Korx etouffe, or the Torianescargot. Or if you hit the fast food joint, the KFD, or the McDrath sandwich. Here's a buy one get one Free Coupon. That's right, with the purchase of 10 entres, if you buy one more, you get one free. Such a deal.
