Hmmm, I'm usually in position to end in 2190, but lately I can't get enough events to change my alignment enough, even with colonizing the PQ 11 and 12 worlds, so I end up draging it out for another 10 years or so.

Exactly my problem. Run back and play a 1.20 game for a short time and see just how many more events there are. It's odd.

I'm still using Magnumaniac's Maso strategy. Got my timing down to about 1hr15min. (A little longer if I'm drinking beer or sipping wine during the game. Appears to be some strange correlation with slowing down my decision-making.  ) 99% of the time I wrap it all up in Jan 2190 with an Alliance victory. On the rare occasion I have to play another year or two to pick up additional Wonders/TG's to round out my score--but very rarely.
It's odd. Some games I'll get little or no events, while others I will have 2 or even three events on consecutive turns. During the GvE contest I intend to continue accepting the no-brainer events (significant bonus to PQ, production, or research) and if I don't get sufficient events to bring my morality back up I'll just cache those games for the beginning of July.

I beta tested 2.0. Worked fine for me, but then I'm a good player. I think you have to have morality 65-70 to get the techs and ships.
