You could say that. The team I generally root for made a poor showing this year, so I started rooting for Canadian teams. Plus, the Assistant Coach for the Flames use to be the Assistant Coach for the local pro team I used to work with. His name is Jim Playfair. pretty cool guy.

Jim Playfair

tough as nails to when he played.

Kinda like Detroit (I AM NOT a Red Wings fan). Those people are NUTZ. You will get lynched for wearing a Colorado jersey out there.

Good Night y'all. I need to work tomorrow, but hope to get in a couple of games before romorrw evening.

Heh, yeah.

I guess it's interesting to note all the current players in the league that came through the team here. Jim wasn't there for all of them, but to drop a few names...

Marty Turco
Manny Fernandez
Jaime Lagenbrunner
Roman Turek
Brad Lukowich

Those guys are nuts. I use to think those bottles of beer they had at the games were glass but I heard they are plastic bottles. Give a Detroit fan a glass bottle of beer would be like arming a 3 year old with Ak47. You should see what they do to Octupus.

Yeah. I can't imagine tossing one of those out on the ice. Even worse, hauling it to the arena...I mean where do you hide that?

Some good goalies in that list

Thats truly one of the great mysterys of the game.

Yeah. all of them fun people, really. When Roman first came, he barely spoke English, but a very, very nice player. Turco and Manny were just goofy young guys. I miss working at the arena. Good time down there.

At the risk of showing my age, is Bowman still the coach for the Redwings?

Retired the end of last season. Think he is 70 years old

Yea, he bounced around quite a bit. Was with the Pens before Detroit. I think it came down to who had to go, Lemeux or Bowman, and well, guess who wins there. (This was when he was still 'just' a player, not an owner.)

Pretty much a no brainer on that one. Coaches are hired to fired and a Lemeux comes once a generation.

There is a 16 year old playing in Quebec right now who they say could be the next great one. Lead the league in scoring in his rookie year of Major Junior. Sydney Crosby is has name. Breaking Gretzky and Lemeux records.

Sweet, but a shame that he is only 16. If I'm not mistaken, Pittsburgh managed to 'win' the number one selection this year.

#12320  by Citizen Evil Druid - 5/31/2004 10:59:49 PM

The year Pittsburg got Lemeux they dressed there minor league team in order to finish last. They changed the rules after that so a team could not throw games on purpose to get the next super star.

D@mn right! You better not be an Avs fan in my face!

My wife and I are HUGE Red Wings fans. As far as we are concerned the season ended about a month ago.

Oh, whomever asked, Scotty Bowman has been retired for 2 years now. He retired in 2002 when the Wings won the cup for the 3rd time in 6 years (all under Bowman).

As a Canucks fan I hate the Avs more then Yor. Steve "I'm just lucky to be Alive" Moore cost us our chance at the cup.

My intrest in hockey died after the IHL K-wings closed up shop and I lost my position in the locker room. That is until the playoff roll around. Then I get all geared up and see who's doing what. A lot of the guy who used to play here ended up with the Stars, (and the K-Wings were affiliated with them) so I tend to root for them.

Canukcs are right up there. I think I dislike Bertuzzi more then any player in the leauge (been that way for years for me, nothing new). I have a friend that always says "there is so much hate in hockey". I think she is right. We are very passionate fans for sure.
