I won't play RPGs with hard-core players. They suck the fun out of playing. Besides I can never understand when people get upset when I play chaotic when that's my alignment. |
| well i think your a bit confused, i call hardcore gamers those who are real fans with every book and play every week/day, who i don't like playing with are power gamers they don't actually care about the roleplaying value of there character, they just reduce him to numbers and try to build the most efficient build they can with offial material, i hate that i don't play with powregamers either you roleplay your character in every aspect or your out of my game.

That's close to my view. What matters to me is the story. I won't gig you for not roleplaying buying lunch if it would slow down the story - but I will give bonus points if roleplaying lunch added to the enjoyment of the group. See my rule number 1

Not confused at all!
Its a matter of semantics. Your definition is different than mine. I think we agree that that role playing should be just that. You can role play with no numbers at all.
| |
|
OK, so we're all on the same wavelength here.
Just got different ways of saying it.
And congratulations your most evil DORKness. I guess you'll have to go for some Superior High-Intensity Training now aswell.
| |
|
hmm well i don't tell them to roleplay buying lunch... however they have to find there own room at the inn in a new town

Hear, hear! Let the GM handle the numbers, that's how I always used to play it. Hell, you don't walk around saying "Ooh, I've only got 4 hit points left, can we have a rest?"
| |
|
heh i've nearly killed my players a few times that way!

My people had to buy the equipment too. And find their way around town. It's all fun.

That sounds about right.

Ya, but if my Battleship is down to 1 HP, I'm racing for my nearest safe harbor!
| |
|
Recently my RP group has begun an underdark campaign one's a mindflayer 4 are drow, ones a elf, it's fun! i also designed the coolest matron mother, it's a little before the birth of drizzt, fun time in faerunian history

I'm still a Ravenloft fan. Best official stuff I've seen.

Looks like I opened the "can" with the D&D comments.
All the geeks are coming out.
It would be nice to get back into it again.
Did anyone see the World Poker Tour champion of champions tournament? Exciting stuff.

So what was your favorite character class?
Mine is/was Thief (Lawful Evil).
(and yes I walk on the dark side in D&D unlike my GalCiv tendancies.)

I was always partial to the Magic User or Illusionist.
Although I did have a Jester class there for a while. Those were the fun times.
Lawful Evil. Always. Hated Paladins with a passion.

Hmmm. I would have never guessed!

I'm just not a restriction kind of guy, and Paladins were the most restricted character you could get.
Besides, I could roleplay a 1st level MU like he was a master.
I still think Gandalf was no more than 5th level, BTW.

i was playing strip poker the other day and got 7 flushes in a row each time with hearts and the 6 of us were using a card randomizer! VoT tells me the chance of getting a flush is 1 in 500 i think 7 is pretty amazing way to beat the odds!

| MY EVIL BROTHER! we're of the same heart i hate paladins, i just don't like those goody goodies they worry about that kinda crap like not torturing the necromancer to get the cure for a plague that would kill thousands cause that would serve the "greater evil".
i like to play a wizard, or a psychic warrior although i just love playing the wizard who's prepared for anything, he's usually a arrogant know it all as well

nahhhhhhh he had to be like a level 19 fighter level 1 magic user, c'mon now the most powerful spell he ever cast was like flare! but he would always go into melee with glamdring, like against the baelrog, tell me a 5th level character could fight a fiend that powerful.
