Of course, there's always the Greldon factor.

The white Knight, waiting to lead the charge, when all seems lost, and Evil is poised in certain victory.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Oh, I AM.

On 2nd thought, relax, slow the pace. The great Greldon is a mythical creature made up by Mothers to keep there children calm at night as Evil takes over the Meta. Evil already has a lock on this competition. The Dark Lords can relax, maybe take up another game. There is no such thing as a Greldon.

Hmmm. I like that name. Dark Lords. Yeah.

There is no such thing as a Greldon.

Yeah. What do you think we tell our children?

Sounds like someone downloaded the "free" version of the divx bundle, or something similar

Can be easily removed, or a simple pop-up stopper (such as the one from www.panicware.com) blocks them quite effectively.

Oh, and don't worry ED, this servant of evil is in a computer free zone as of tomorrow at 6pm, not returning till next Monday.

Don't worry Magnum we'll stop submitting until you get back Now if we could only do something about Dark Lord Loth. Email him some kind of computer virus or something. He would never suspect something sent by a Guardian of Justice.

On the bigger maps how can you beat the enemy when they have ten or more planets? Even if I buy their fleet they still somehow make new ones the next month. I can never get alpha strikes on the bigger maps. Occasionally, I can beat the weaker ones but by the time I have a good income and are set up on my first planets, normally two to three, one of the computers has become the dominant force in the galaxy. By the way, I can never got more than two to three star systems before the computer gets then and if I try to get more the computer will get the diplomatic translator and be way ahead of me in the tech tree. And again why?

Loopcub, suggest that you read my complete game strategy in the "maso strategies" thread over at the Senate Halls, which is geared towards Huge/rare maps.

It's not meant to be followed to the letter (as that would take all the fun out of the game), but should help you with a few pointers on beating maso on large maps with only 3-4 planets of your own.

The bottom line is it all hinges on high diplomacy and lots of gifts to keep them sweet until you're in a position to ally or blow them away. Ten system invasion alpha strikes can be done, but take a lot of setting up and ship manouvering - work out where you need to supplement the fleets you are going to buy, position these extra ships first, then buy the entire enemey offensive fleet and attack in the same turn before they have a chance to build more.

Loopcub if all else fails you could try a terror star alpha strike. Costs alot but i think it can be easier against troublesum AI's.

Heres a couple for GoD BOOM!! BOOM!!

true but I thought you get more points for capturing them and more to the pont what if they have 15 to 30 and I have seen that.

You could always try to culture flip some of them. Then go for terror stars.

I tried but even with full culture modules on each starbase and a starbase in every sector they did not flip.

#13145  by Citizen Naqmir - 6/7/2004 4:40:21 PM

starbase in every sector

Try more than one in each sector. They should flip very easy with three or four in each sector,as long as your not on AP.

I will in my next game but I hope I do not have too.

#13147  by Citizen Evil Druid - 6/7/2004 4:47:02 PM

If you have double the influence they usually flip in 2 or 3 months. If there is a unoccopied planet even of lower PQ you can temporarly colonize to bring up your base influence level up then destroy it after flip.

Naqmir how have they changed this with the AP

#13149  by Veteran Icho Tolot - 6/7/2004 4:51:27 PM

Its just harder to flip with AP
