The Guardians now have a new motto, one which demonstrates our true nature.

Honor, Not Cheating

I stand by Lothmorg the Black 100% on this matter. These alegations are completely ridiculous.

Theoden what can we do.

I am unsure if there is anything we can do about this. Brad is a very fair person, so I am hoping the recent silence from Stardock indicates they are examining the save games more fully to see how he got there. I am sure upon further inspection they will see Loth did not hack any savegames. He is a talented and gifted player.

for now we can just give him our support, and assure him of our belief in his innocence which i would assume means more to him then what stardock thinks, in my book he's still the legitimate number one player in the metaverse

Indeed.

maybe it would be better to switch gears and try to put it out of our heads until a further development, how's life going with the new job theoden?

I didn't want to post in this thread for problems in the past, but I want to give my support to Lothmorg, in my book he is number one, there is not cheating tactics, the only thing I do is to play for alliance and wait after the year 2190 and voila you get 60K score. Maybe is cheesie but not cheating. But anyways is time to move to better things.

hello renegade, how's your semi-retirement going?

Busy...that's why I've been so silent lately. I've had things to do every night, so I haven't had much time to play GalCiv.

I want to give my support to Lothmorg, in my book he is number one, there is not cheating tactics

Thanks Mario. I'm really unsure how either of you could have been accused of cheating.

As do I. I truly hope the Frogboy will provide proof or an least an explanation of what is happening. We can only assume that it is because of potential cheating, but in fact, the scores may have been only temproarily removed for examination. We don't know. In any case, Stardock hopefully will provide additional information. If none if forthcoming, there are lots of other things in the world to do besides support Startdock.

Is anybody here in favor of making a petition in the main forum? I drafted one and was about to post it, but decided I should probably ask you guys what you thought first...here was my initial draft:

This is a post as a petition for more information. Everyone who posts an affirmative as a reply to this post is demanding a detailed explanation from Stardock as to why two of the most prominent and seemingly honorable players in the Metaverse have been removed with no explanation.

Anyone who would like to join this petition please reply with some kind of affirming message.

Petition started by the Galactic Guardians,
Honor, not cheating!

#13611  by Veteran Theoden of Rohan - 6/18/2004 3:57:33 PM

I think a petition is a great idea. Not only will it show Stardock that we are united, it will also show Loth and Mario how many ppl support them.

Whilst I stand beside both of the people in question, i will take this opportunity to remind all members of this statement from Stardock: -

Important Notice: The Metaverse submits more than just your score. It also uploads game data that can be used to calculate ones score. If we believe users are modifying the game in such a way designed to artificially inflate scores, we will remove that player from the Metaverse. There will be no warnings.

This may go somewhat to shedding some light on the silence from Stardock!

well i would love to sign a petition without hesitancy, but the problem is it doesn't do much good if stardock is of a mind to "cull the herd" so to speak.

Thanks Mario. I'm really unsure how either of you could have been accused of cheating.

me and dw have thought it could be shock therapy if they just didn't underestimate the effect it would have on the community.

Plus i don't know how stardock has handled issues of similar importance in the past, can anyone say if this is the general way that stardock handles these things or is this "off-color" ?

No, I think Stardock already knows it has created a firestorm of controversy. Let's wait awhile and let cooler heads prevail.

I agree with you.

Its a shame and kind of irritating to just see players "disappear" with no explanation

Quick,
I basically agree, but I don't think making demands at this time will help. I think we should wait and see if Stardock will post additional information. All we really know is that the scores of two highly respected Meta members have been removed. We don't know why. We assume that it is related to the post of Frogboy since they were removed shortly after his post. But this is speculation. There may be no correlation. Perhaps those who interact with Startdock on a regular basis, such as DreamWeaver and others can privately inquire and suggest that Startdock respond in a timely manner. Let's wait 24 hours and see what happens. If nothing happens in 24 hours, I would say we talk some more about what response we should or could make.

Perhaps this is for the best.

#13618  by Citizen Moser_Alchemist - 6/18/2004 4:07:59 PM

I was all excited, 24 hours ago, about the fact that custom maps were starting to show up in the library. Now I'm really down and really don't feel like playing.

#13619  by Citizen Naqmir - 6/18/2004 4:08:20 PM

I agree with Weyrleader. We should wait 24 hours and if no explanation is given by stardock then I will happily sign a petition. As far as I can remember stardock has always tried to listen to the players of this game.So unless something has changed radically, I think we can expect a response as to why they were removed.

#13620  by Citizen _Attila_ - 6/18/2004 4:20:51 PM

Waiting for what??!
NO!!!
Thats all big BULL£$%£!!! C'mon what 24 hours is going to help?!? how??
They should have explained that in the first place, and then only then they should done something horrible like this!
I am voting for petitioning now!!

#13621  by Veteran the 3rd child - 6/18/2004 4:24:28 PM

attila perhaps you should calm down a bit, not only would it likely not help at this point, it only serves to aggravate the situation, just because they didn't handle the situation with finesse doesn't mean it gives us a free pass to either.

#13622  by Citizen Naqmir - 6/18/2004 4:26:44 PM

I will sign the petition no matter when it is posted however the rules say they can delete anyones scores they feel are cheating without warning.I also think we should wait 24 hours to give Loth and Mayito a chance to hear from stardock. Its their scores that were deleted and they should be given an explination first.I think that any major decissions on our part should wait untill we hear weather or not stardock has given them an explination.

#13623  by Senator Drengin - 6/18/2004 4:26:52 PM

Attila, whilst i too am not happy about the way this has happened, Stardock have stated in this website that they will remove accounts without notification. This action may only be temporary. Please think before acting too fast on smoething that may only be temporary. Whilst Stardock will only remove a players scores if they belive that player to have cheated, they are likely to completely block your isp address if you start creating a huge issue out of it! Something none of us, even the two players in question, would want!

If that happened, I truly believe that the metaverse community would completely disintegrate before our very eyes. Threats on both sides serve no useful purpose.
