So, what do you do now, Slothrop.

well, when I'm not trying to lasso this next release of Galciv Writer, I'm a gov't contractor and run the agency program office for some faceless fed gov't agency. But between my ALV days and the present sad situation, there were some fun times too. taught MIS classes to some of the world's smartest MBA students, started two VC-capitalized tech companies, ran technology in some large financial co's and investment banks on wall street. But probably the most fun i ever had was hanging out in the developing world - I did a gig as CIO of the largest investment bank in eastern europe. giddyup. ride 'em cowboy. (not bad for a guy who started out thinking he was a physicist.)

Sounds like fun. I started out as a nuclear chemist (never did any chemistry, just nucelar physics). My highest claim to fame in that area is the co-discoverer of 7 new isotopes. Then I went into computers. More fun.

Good morning/afternoon everybody!

Just woke up, darn i am now sleeping 10 hours everyday... Fantastic! finally i am gaining my sleeping hours back to normal. Before exams i've slept just about 5-7 hours... there was a major lack of sleep for me...

I'm glad you guys are here! Before I found GalCiv, I thought I was the only 30-something (now 40 something ) that played computer games!

Computer, what is a computer? My first PC that I purchased was in 1983 and was a Digital Rainbow. Still have it and it still works. Makes a great heat source for the cold days in the basement.

Must be the nice personallity that only suggests 10 yrs.

I don't mind saying, I just had my 40th wedding anniverary and my 62nd birthday is 8 Jul.

I play video games all the time with my sons-in-law and they tell me I am the only father-in-law that know about who does that.

Hey, you are only as old as you think you are

Weyrleader!

Did you just get a game in, or am I late to notice? Top 10 and 1M Congrats

As to age, I prefer Satchel Paige's (ML and Negro League pitcher)quote:

"How old would you feel if you didn't know how old you wuz?"

The above was his response to a sports reporters question who asked him how he could get 23-24 year olds out when he was thought to be 50+ years old (he was in the bigs at the time).

Submitted one before I came to work. Did not have a chance to check where it put me, but apparently it gave me 11k+ points. Thanks for noticing.

As I said earlier, I enjoy the company more than the game playing

#13991  by Citizen Weyrleader - 6/29/2004 10:45:12 AM

But, don't get me wrong, I also enjoy the game or I wouldn't play it

#13992  by Citizen Weyrleader - 6/29/2004 10:46:52 AM

This last game I am almost afraid to admit to playing. Early in the game the Yor gave up and joined the Terran Empire. Almost made me quit the game and start over - like I was contaminated almost. But logic took over and I used their planet to my advantage.

That is what is so great about this community. Regardless of age, country or background we all have a great time here with each other. Never had so much fun with game, and half of it has nothing to do with the game.

Thanks, Naqmir. It now takes more than a million points to reach the top 10. Soon it will take a million points to reach the top 15.
