Your effort should be rewarded Greldon. It is unfortunante that you should have to suffer with this. For someone who has played so many games, and is one of only 3 people to have 2 million points, you shouldn't be so penalized by the system. We need something better.

Unfortunately indefinately.

It sounds as though I'd be better off dumping my score and starting over.

#14952  by Veteran Grand_Admiral_Thrawn - 7/27/2004 10:25:15 AM

Wouldn't you lose second place?

Or would you have a new name and keep second place eventually challenging yourself?

I'm the only one to have 2 million points twice, and can now do it a third time....how ridiculous is that?!

#14954  by Citizen Greldon - 7/27/2004 10:32:30 AM

Wouldn't you lose second place?

Yes, but that's going to happen anyway, isn't it.

#14955  by Veteran Grand_Admiral_Thrawn - 7/27/2004 10:34:25 AM

Quite.

But as I think about it, Loth lost his old scores when he restarted right? So you would too.

So you can have second place, and give your scores to me and I'll see they are put to good use.

Or you could make a new identity and slowly and painfully work your way back up again.

Or you could buy the game again so you have a new serial number and have two identities. Of course, this really isn't a realistic solution.

What I don't understand is if the old blocks eventually drop off, why wouldn't the empty block?

#14957  by Diplomat Peace Phoenix - 7/27/2004 10:46:40 AM

One small point abot restarting: you will get rid from the less than 60K games that are in your profile and can be very annoying when others games are in it.

BTW, from days 151, the block are 70 days and no longer 30 days. It means that you can end up with no empty block. It will be the case the 11/10/2004, in less than 4 month, when games from july will move in the block 121-150 days.

#14958  by Veteran Grand_Admiral_Thrawn - 7/27/2004 10:50:34 AM

Ah! I keep forgetting about that stupid 70 day blocks!

So you have 3 and 1/2 months of annoying scoring failures, but I think you might get a boost when you would rid yourself of the empty block.

The fact you're happy with it doesn't mean it's right either PP. Effort should be rewarded! You should not be shown to be a "worse" player according to the Metaverse because you took a break from playing!

reality check: It is sad to see that being the 2nd player in the metaverse is labeled as "worse" player

And the metaverse don't show that you are good player or not. It just show that your are proficient in submitting continuously high scoring games.

A light at the end of the tunnel.

Again, let me encourage the Guardians to go to the Embassy and to the Halls of the Guardians and let's come up with an agreed upon improvement that doesn't invalidate what Stardock is doing in the current Meta, but extends it so that it can properly reflect what they want to do for the casual player and help them see the benefit of exteding the Meta for the experience adict player. After all, it is the adict that spreads the word about a great game, not the casual player who plays once in a while.

Well obvously peace and Vot know more about it then anybody and if anyone could come up with a quick fix it is them.

Why not drop empty blocks from the calculations all together to encourage players to come back. Zero blocks not calculated into the equation.

!!MOOB lost 2k for that one.Hope this isnt going to become a trend.

I had 320 games logged, just submitted a game, and it says I've played 322 games. This has happened to me 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Can you explain this one, Peace?

Just another day for me. Maybe we should see who can get to zero first!

The alternate meta race to bottom. I got ahead start on you Greldon.

I've asked for Stardock to fix those who's scores aren't degrading. http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=183071 Link Maybe they will run a Meta-wide recalc and fix everyone.

Only downside was that im really hoping to get to 2 million.I mean i only have 400k to go.

The postive side is that puts me closer to you, Naqmir

Im thinkin i had better try to put some more distance between us.Lets hope it doesnt backfire.

Zero blocks not calculated into the equation.

It is already the case: empty block doesn't give any points. The problem is when a blokc is emptied: before it gives points, after it doens't give anything, so there is a loss.

I can't help you: I understand the math behind metaverse scoring, but I don't have any access to Stardock database to see what is happening.

True....but I can lose more than 80K at a time!

What I mean is it is ignored complety if there our 10 blocks in the equation. Zero block is thrown out so there our nine blocks total. It is not in the equation at all. Does that make any sense.

Sorry, I don't understand what are you meaning.

He means 10 blocks with one empty would be treated as 9 blocks, none of them empty.
