I agree with the designation, whether voluntary or Meta imposed. But, my reason is a little more paranoid. I want Stardock to see that there are people who might like to stay active but the Meta forces them to retire because of the vortices they have created in the space-time continum of the Meta. (how's that for an explanation? )

I wonder what percentage of active players to inactive is.

Good question. I wonder if there is an easy way to manipulate the database to answer that question?

I went back to 3,500 players listed in the meta and still could have gone further. According raw scores stats 87 players submitted a game in August. That means only about 2% of the players are active.

There is so much deadwood in the meta you should be able to filter it out so the real players can see what the real players are doing today.

That’s how you get those government contracts. With words like that they either think your a genius or a nut. Either way they don't want you working for anyone else.

I like the idea of knowing whos inactive and active so i think adding a little thing to let people know you are no longer playing is a good thing.Which is why i did it.I agree that it seems to look like a Guardian thing at the moment but i realy like that idea.Might give newer players more hope to reach the top if they can see whether a player is playing or not.

just my 2 cents.

Shall I tell which one they choose, or do you want to guess?

If you are taking that number from the altmeta, be aware that it only tracks members of the top 25 empires. There are people without empires that still submit, and maybe still a few in empires lower than 25. I think it would be nice to have them included in the raw altmeta scores, if possible.

Ratio of active / all meta players = (87 + x ) / 4434

if x = 0 then 87 / 4434 = 0.0196

x is defined as the number of active players not in an empire. The altmeta does not track their entries.

4434 was derived from 178 meta pages. 178 pages was determined by maxing the page field in the web destination parmlist.

There are at least 12 active orphans in the top 100 and 1 player from a non-top 25 empire. I doubt that the distribution can be taken as constant throughout the meta, but that would certainly add a fair chunk to the total. Maybe as many orphans as empire members.

I guess that means you agree Aww Nuts. There is an awful lot of dead wood floating around the meta. If we had the option to filter out all the inactive players, I am sure it would be more interesting for the active players. New players would be able to tell which empires were active and which were dead. They would start on page 4 instead of page 178.

Assume that somone is not in an empire, and wants to check it out. Where will they naturally gravitate? To the empire link on the left menu of the Forum page. Once opened, this individual will find all kinds of stuff, and will almost certainly surf a few of the empires respective forums. If this person wanted to be able to tell which empires are active or dead, they'd probably see our TOME of posts and say "Whoa!!!"

I have made some posts on the galactic forum about metaverse. I wonder what the reactions will be

Well, time to wake up the Guardians, although some have had a late night. Good morning, Guardians.

Peace, good post at the forum on scoring. Hopefully will put to bed some of the newbie complaints about not being able to get to the top. As in any game with multiple levels, it just takes time to get there.

Be sure to use a large cup so you can stir in the cool whip. Great on snowy winter nights, and you sleep like a babe afterwords.
