Good morning all. Just to let you all know, I've decided to formally retire to the "Old Soldier's Home". I rarely find time to play, in and among many other interests, and as such do not like the dramatic beating the metaverse gives to less-than-regular players. I still play but not often enough to contribute well enough to be a part of this fine empire.

What is this supposed to mean? I was not trying to hurt my empire or anything or is this some allusion to it really wasn't worth having me to begin with?

Please see my post in the Knight's Table before leaving. If this decision is final, it is indeed a sad day for the Guardians, and you will be sorely missed. Success on the scoreboards was never the point, rather it was the result of having a successful community, one which you contributed so much to. Though you head to retirement, you will always be remembered by us as a Guardian, and will be welcome here anytime.

Thank you for your kind words. I was in the Army for a long time. As soldiers retired the unit stayed and those that left were remembered for their efforts. I have lost the desire to play on a consistent enough basis for the metaverse to be rewarding in any way and due to other factors I cannot post as regularly as I used to do. I feel it is time to sit back in the shade sipping on mint juleps and watch the more active members soldier on to victory. GalCiv is still on my HD and I still play now and then but I don't post the games because I'd just go backwards. When you can't keep up it's time to retire....

Just that the Foundation is trying to be the number 1 empire. So they could be happy with every loss at the Guardian empire

is this some allusion to it really wasn't worth having me to begin with

I was just watching the score. And when considering solely the score involved (your 96 K against the empire 17 000 K), your departure won't shift enormously the statuts of the "war" between Guardians and Foundation. If Greldon, nagmir and magnumaniac do the same as you, it would be more dramatic since the empire would loss 5 000 K when the current between the 2 empires is currently 10 000K.

But I emphasis the fact that I haven't said anything about what you have brough in the forum and there is no ladder that can measure this kind of thing.

In short, the loss of your submitted games isn't really important for the mepire. BUT the loss of a member that was once active in the forums is another thing.

You will but I will be waiting to see how they revamp the metaverse. I truly think they could devise a better method to both reward high submissions and still not deter more casual players....
