Does the data system that handles this thread have a skip to last pointer/capability. GGers would you consider retiring this thread and starting a new one as the load times for changing the pages is, well, a pain in the a$$. I'm talking "My Dinner with Damoose" type of pain (yep a 2 cheeker then the check). Just a thought. Probably not, but at least I tried. Think about it, I must have loaded this thread alot before I would complain. (that's a compliment) A no is preferable over nothing.

That explains the smell of rotting cod comming from the Lab. Being a Canadian I know your aware of the concept of property tax. The lab is located in the claw. Need I say more.

Yes I use the right pointer. I am just wondering if it load the entire thread just to get to the next page. The skip to last page pointer would be great so that the entire thread doesn't get loaded. See what I am saying. Did I mention that I was a DBA for big-iron systems (MVS/IMS Databases) for 8 years before I was a Project Leader. This isn't a brag just a fact. I have forgotten more than I remember.

Yes, the load times are long on the GG thread. Problem appears to be in latency. I am without tools to look into it other than simple observation.

Hmmm, I've thought that it can be sluggish loading sometimes, but never anything more than an extra beat or two except when the entire site is acting up. But I've only used it from broadband connections. Very spoiled by having fast Internet home and work.

I get 3 meg down. Do an easy stopclock test of the GG thread against another smaller thread. I get much different load times for the GG thread. I have tested this numerous times. Traffic affects only the total time not the difference. If it's okay with the rest I will tolerate it but it seems excessive to me. (8-12 seconds on many occasions). You have to remember that I had to provide response times in less than 2.5 seconds for most of my online applications. Again, not a brag but a fact.

Perhaps PB would like to have another lab; a bigger lab, a better lab, we can re-build it...It'll be better, stronger, faster...(er excuse me for that).

Hmmm, just checked. 3 trys for Terror Star of Evil yielded 5, 4, and 3 seconds vs the Claw 10, 21, and 8 seconds. The Claw has about 25 times the volume of posts. So yes, there is something to it. Never really tried to pin it down before. Have to think about it.

But still, I would hate to give up all this history.

The list would not go away, just no new posts allowed - probably can't enforce that either, but...

We could call the new thread ,"Raven's Claw II" which means we have grown so big we need two Claw to drink in.
