You might want to try Alt+Tabbing out during the endgame movie and bringing up a web page. That will kickstart the net detect code in GC.
Works for me every time.

My firewall is a little too selective, but I can't change it as it's hardware. I usually have to alt - tab out to open the router's page ans set my machine to be the DMZ server. This sets me outside the firewall, but it still didn't work today.

I remember seeing a layout of the ranks of the metaverse. It showed how many point and games were required for each rank. I haven't been able to fins it again though. Anybody know where I might find that?
