I'm a little just got back from hockey and feeling bad because I must have lost every game I have played since the new year. Tonight I played with all my heart and effort and I still lost. I made saves that I had no right to just out of total effort and desperation. I keep going through my head with everything I have ever learned about playing so I'm not missing anything. Then I try not to think tp much so that my brain gets in the way of my reactions. Half the time in goal you don't even no how your brain directed your body to make the save because it all happens so fast. Maybe I'm getting to old to play against younger people. At least I know I left nothing in the tank tonight. Maybe LW will have a word of wisdom.

In case it is not obvious the pub was up to par tonight at least.

ED, all we can do is the best we can do. The rest takes care of itself. Hockey is a team sport and win or lose, it is the team that won or lost, not an individual player. You did your part and that is all one can ask.

Now, on the other hand, sometimes we do need to admit that younger is better than older, especially when it comes to certain sports that rely on reaction times. At 62, you would not find be playing hockey, at least not unless all the other players were over 60.

I use the half butterfly. Only one leg can kick out at my age without serious injury and the posts keep giving me conflicting advise, I don't know which one to believe.

Let's all welcome Tiny Rhino to the Glactic Guardians!!

Welcome Tiny Rhino

For real! LoL! But I think I've gotten the opening strats down now ...though I still get antsy not rush building colony ships (or atleast one of them) in the beginning. I'm thinking "If the Yor get to that juicy PQ 16 before me I'm gonna go pure military and kill them all even if it takes me out of the game entirely!"

I often rush buy the first colony ship I build because there are two planets out in the distnace that are too close to the AI to wait. I use the least amount of up-front cash to buy them.

#19041  by Citizen Evil Druid - 1/26/2005 5:41:02 PM

I never rush buy colony ships to much a damper on the economy at such a crititcal stage.

BOOM! for 9,521 points.

ED, I don't find it makes much difference in the way I play. The bigger difference is in the starting PQ of the home planet. Anything less than 18 takes too long to research items.

#19043  by Citizen Evil Druid - 1/26/2005 7:13:16 PM

I agree with that.

BOOM!

Glad you made it here Astorax, it's always great to see a new face in "The Claw". As to your comment about the Yor...you've found the right empire to gripe to. Our goal is to eliminate all of these rust buckets.

BOOM Yor not kidding Chip

#19049  by Citizen PassingBye - 1/27/2005 6:05:44 AM
