Thanks for confirming that.. I'd hate to give the wr!@# info

{JT Qwerk was problems saying these words... "Lost... Wrong... Surrender...Sorry.... Quit....Cheat...." when talking about himself... )

just posted another 60,000 game here .. this one took me 7 hours approx.... but I could have finished it in about 5 for the same score.. (I just keep playing it till I get tired of it.. then I end the game.. Generaly by the year 2185 I've won the game.. the rest of the timew is spent making sure that I get the max score... which iswhy I like alliance games.. I can end them at my disgression when I'm ready...

I'm kinda that way with the TS alpha strike approach. I could end my games earlier, but I like to pick up some of the late game wonders and trade goods. Just makes me feel better.

No my point was that the Torians are allied with them. No matter, I declared war on them and made a valiant attempt at taking them out. I lost a countless number of ships with thwarted notice every single time I tried to invade.

I am using Icho_Tolot's Mods with special tactics for invading with and that did not work. I really messed this game up badly not realizing I should not have allied with anyone on military conquest. (shrugs)

As stupid as it sounds I never played this way before. We can call this a royal blunder on my part.. a Homer Moment.. Homer Simpson in the USA anyways.. I hope in the land down under Captain Qwerk you watch the show to understand? If not then it was retarded for me not to realize.

Ally with all the minors that can hurt you... then go to war with the Torians...

Hint: If they are allied with you and you go to watr with somneone else that they are allied with then they won't (or havn't with me) go to war with you .. The same thing saves you from having to go to war with someone you are alied to... If i'm going to do this I make sure that I can ally with everyone first.. If I fail to ally everyone then I simply reload the save game I just made the turn prior to trying to become allies with everyone

So If you don't want to go to war with anyone then simply form an alliance with everyong then your set to culture bomb till your heart is ccontent.. (NOTE.. if you buile a non resource mining starbase in the same sector that they have a planet in then I think that they will ask you to remoce it.. and if you don't then they could break the alliance I think... )

I am allied with all minors but 2 out of 5 or 6 in the game. I have 2-3 SB in each sector so far. I will do the 9 per sector as you explained before.

A learning experience this game was without a doubt. I should have completed this game like 4 days ago. Sorry I am taking so long to get my next game in. Heck I am not doing work on my website I am playing Galciv.

#655  by Citizen littlewotts_ - 10/3/2004 8:56:47 AM

You can culture bomb the AI in their sector as long as they are you allies. Otherwise they will demand it from you. The best way to pull that off is to colonize a crappy planet in an enemy sector, and then build 2-3 maxed culture bombs. That tends to flip them well.

Ah okay thanks I will give that a go..

The main question is... are you having fun.... with all that you are learning in this game it'll improve your game pl;aying no wend... From what i've told you so far you should get great scores.. so long as you playmilitary wins .. on a map of atleast huge size and the AI's set to the hardest that you can handle.. Keep increasing the AI's levels every time you have a win.. then you'll soon be playing maso level like me

You show great promise young cadet.. remember have fun and don't burn yourself out... I loose more recruits onm burnout and the lack of fun...

Note: You are still in the StarFleet senete because even though you havn't posted 4 games in the last 30 days.. you HAVE been very active in the forum...

Activity is all that is required to become and remain a senetor in Starfleet... Its my way of saying thankyou

I only hope that when I help out new recruits that they stay with Starfleet and not leave for other empires.. as I do spend A lot of efforet to help people play the game...

I am not going any place Captain (Admiral? ) I am burnt out on this game. I am not burnt out on Galciv I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Galciv and Space Empires IV I am horribly addicted to. I am not getting things done at my website because of Galciv.

I would be having more fun if I did not make the stupid mistake of being allied with the Torians and a few other dumb mistakes.

#660  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 10/4/2004 8:38:34 AM

Hey.. don't knock yourself... there are never any mistakes.. only learning experiances

My last game just posted raised my rank to Fleet Admiral .. as high a rank as you can get in the metavewrse.. just a case now of building up my bars and score

#661  by Veteran Cosmic Fox - 10/4/2004 9:11:07 AM

Normally I would agree with you making mistakes is how we learn. My point is I did not think about the term "Military Conquest". It does not mean take out everyone but ally with one race, it means kill all races no exceptions. I realized this afterwards no foresite.

Good job.. You are a great player.. You have given me some good advice.. I hope to get my scores to at least 30,000-50,000 a game in a few more weeks.

Normally I would submit at least one game a week. This surprise game is taking me twice as long to complete. I am making progress. Littlewotts gave me advice to colonize some 12-14 planets in the Torians circle of influence. It seems to have increased my influence slightly. I have on average about 4 SB's per sector. They only have about 8 sectors in the NE corner.

I generally buy the SBs from the AI that are mining influence resources as well. On top of that, I try to grab every influence boosting wonder/TG I can. I usually get Galactic Exibition, Restaurant of Eternity, Propaganda Machine, Historical Preserve, Hyper Distribution Center, and Pain Amplifiers. That really helps.

The thing is that I don't want to tell you too much and wreck the game for you.. Half the fun in playing these type of games is working out your own stratagies.. Otherwise you just turn into a machine cranking out games.. each game I play I try to do somewthing differently.. this keeps the game interesting..

I know I can beat the game at any level of play in any combination.. I'm not a cranker.. and don't want to be.. It would wreck the game for me..

As LW says.. building wonders on stratagic planets helps.. I'ts not a bad idea to ally so long as you ally with everyone on the same turn.. (unless you want to get draged into wars)

This way you can take your time culturee bombing them..

I too buy up ALL the AI's starbases..not just the resource ones.. but I make sure that my planets have built up everything that they NEED... (Think about it... what do your planets really need.. most things have a maintanence cost attached.. and it all adds up) .. Don't forget that when something isn't needed thats on a pl;anet that you've captured you can demolish so that It doesn't cost you maintance.. eg: ship yards,Quality control.. etc..etc.. I never have these as I don't need them...)

After all it is a strategy game.. and everyone has.. or should have different stratagies on how they like to do things THEIR way.. there is no right or wrong way so long as it works and you have fun....

Keep going.. you'll get there.. your doing great.. its good to see and hear about someone enjoying themself

Thanks for the offer J.T., but I run the Guardians now. The reasons you mentioned are the same resons why my peers choose me for the job. I know I'm a far cry from the leader Theoden was, but I do my best. As for the losses, I'm a medal junkie so I submitted some games difficuly levels far beyond what I was capapble of back then to get it.

Desert Fox, if you would like some tips on Small/Medium maps with MASO take a look at the Strategy forum. I have posted my strategies. I have set them up as seperate they are similar. The medium map strategy is more detailed because I learned more.

I have thought about submitting losses to the metaverse but it would not feel right. I would like to get that nice purple heart of cowardice ... I mean wounded in action . I am just not sure what it would do to my metaverse scoring. Maybe I should ask Peace.

Screws it up.

We could use my profile as an example: my score as it is and with out the losses.

Qwerk the space race is on for real now. The first commercial venture has just had a man orbit the earth in space.

The Ansari X prize has been unofficially won. See http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/10/04/spaceshipone.attempt.cnn/index.html Link
