I hate to post back to back messages but my current game just got real interesting. I haa the arrival of The Dread Lords. I never heard of them but found a thread about them. It seems they are not that tough in my game. Can they be defeated? I am playing Demonic around a 12 rating. Testing a new Mod.. Now if it submits I will be happy.

Never heard back from CariElf.

Not only can they be defeated, you really want to get peace with them because you can milk them for ungodly amounts of cash per turn.

I found that out then I took them out. The fundamentalists are a bit of pain now. I see the problems now with being evil in a game. I am testing a evil Mod for someone so it works out nicely.

Providing it does not error out again I should have another best game ever going here.

Nortons and a pop-up blocker from my ISP that has been on my system for a long time. Spyguard, Spyblaster, Spybot and Ad-Aware are all running. I have had them for a long time ever since they came out.

I did uninstall all the programs including the Totalgaming.net games. I probably should have ripped it out of my registry as well. I did not go that far in the game still had a lot of techs to research. The PQ options of the Mods installed has not kicked in. I do not know what is wrong. Icho_Tolot and others have used all his mods without a hitch. I will let you know in a few days what happens.

Sometimes AP / Galciv can get corrupted.. It has happened to others before today..

never install mods anywhere except in the mods directory.. as they could replace files freom the original install

Any file thats in the mods dir and in the standard dir will use the mods dir if mods are enabled..

the only file that you may need to change/overwrite is the prefs.ini file which holds the race names and general startup info.. this is the only file that i've found that needs to be copied into the default galciv/ap dir...

don't forget that a lot of mods were written prior to the existance of the mods dir.. so they'll tell you to place them in the main dir's.. DON'T do it.. Its a lot harder to remember what has been changed..

If you do this then its a lot easier to track down wether AP/Galciv has problems or if its the mods.. you can simply turn the mods off if they are iun the mods dir.. then your playing the basic ap/galciv...

Okay thanks a lot of that I did not know. I am glad the Mod folder was added. I thought something was wrong when I was going to install GC after a format. I put in the disk and it would only allow me to install from the Net. This time I did not install SDC first, GC went in first.

I am only using Icho_Tolot Mods becauase they are stardocks certified to not mess up the game. He is very good at modding I doubt it was his Mod. I am reinstalling AP and the other games from the service. It takes me around 2-3 days to do a huge map. See you then!

Interesting I reinstalled everything.. Decided for the heck of it to try and submit the last game. It loaded up fine but all the ships and SB were missing. I went for it and submitted fine. I am at 40,000 now I will do the same thing with the other game I had see what happens. Make up for my lack of games being submitted.

When the game crashes, what was the last line in debug.err, and what says smart exception?

The other game still crashes galciv. I suspect this was due to a corrupt installation. Hopefully Cari will get back to me tomorrow.

I did not install smart exception DOH! Forgot all about that one after my format. debug.err where is that? I feel a bit ignorant here.

debug.err where is that

In the same folder than Galciv.exe.

Just got my StarTrek OS Series 1.. and am watching them in order

I must say that I am disapointed that they aren't in order and that episode 1 isn't there (The Cage) ..

They seem to have tried to keep them in some form of order but have shifted them around to the best fit on the DVD's

at AU$110.00 I think that its a bit on the pricy side.. I think that it should have only cost about AU$80.00 that would work out at about AU10.00 a DVD... I only hope that the next 2 sessons are cheaper...

I want to own them all...
StarTrek OS 1-3
StarTrek NG 1-7
StarTrek Voyager 1-7
StarTrek DS9 1-7
Enterprise 1-???

to go with all the StarTrek movies which I already own

at $110.00 its going to take me ages to get them all and it'll end up costing me ib the vacinity of AU$4000.00 Gulp... But then What a collection i'd have...

Does anyone out there own them all..

I used to have MOST all of them on Beta tape format and then on Super VHS. The oxides fall off the tape and I did not think about the degrading that it would do naturally. This was before DVD of course. Shawn (My son) has purchased quite a few of them but not many. We recently replaced our old lazer disks of Trek with DVD. A lot of cash to do that.

Enterprise is 4 seasons only it is ending in case you did not know.

By the way off topic.. Any suggestions for my site to improve it? NeoTech is slowly dying..

Qwerk, I think that the CAGE is on the last disk in the special additions. I seen a reference to it but I have not checked it out.

I just finished the first season series and I found that I had never seen 1 of the episodes.

The Cage was incorporated into "the managerie" but its not the same as having the "The Cage"

I've looked on the last DVD and its not there

I'm now watching episode 7 "The naked time" I've had to swap the DVD's about 4 times already....

so far i've seen all of them before

I don't know how to help you with your site.. mine is also dying... its a programming web site http://tibi.ccserve.net Link

ALL sites have this problem .. there are lots of sites out there trying to get an audience.. If you come up with the answer then you'll make a fortune ...

and not to mention that it takes time... and patience.. Doi it because you want to do it.. If people use it then well and good.. if not then you'vce still done something you wanted to do...

Oh I was just bitching outloud. I need to begin aggressive advertising I have been busy playing Galciv trying to learn how the hell the best way to play is. I want to help bring this Empire up in the ranks including my own ranking.

I made a blunder by my posts at JoeUser.com by not realizing who some of the members were. Like Draginol I played Hardball politics with him and had no idea it was Brad. Sigh.. I should know better then to debate politics it always gives people the wrong impression of you especially if they are from the opposing side, Brad is a Bush supporter which shocked me! Its cool though he is a terrific talented person makes no difference to me. Appartently it does to him thou.

Hey nice site you never mentioned you had a website? It is PHP you got one new member me! I will sign up later and see if I can place a link on my site get some traffic for you.

Care to take part in the newsletter we are putting together? We want to include some programming articles, science and other geek stuff. At any rate if you give me a banner for your site or some sort of advertisement I will post it at the site. I have about 10 programmers who come to NeoTech.
