EDIT: How could I fail to mention Scotty's "Hello computer..." bit in ST IV?!?

I always loved that one I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw it the first time.

I know the one you refer to damn if I can pin it down to one show name.

Well J.T., I can tell by your submission rate this month that you are really going for it. WTG! I know I have a ~slow~ period in my blocks coming up here, I hope it doesn't let the margin grow

thanks for noticing..

Just trying to say away from you .. I myself have 3 bad blocks from memnory thats what has taken me so long to get where I am today.. that and the fact that I was trying to stick to 4 games per block.. and now that i'm the same rank (I was hopingf to ber the lowest ranked (eg:admril) in the top 10
)

and now my aim is not to let anyone overtake me on the top 25 list..

and you are my main concern.. and i'm doing my best not to let you overtake me.. (even in the raw scores which can be seen here http://altmeta.galciv.org/ Link )

The good news about the bad blocks is that the effects decay with each successive block (Due to the multiplier decreasing by 5% each block). I think that at the worst point of my month, my lowest value for a 60K submission is ~6K. As to me overtaking you, I'm a single Dad with 3 kids age 8, 6, and 6. I have custidy of them so I only get two weekends a month when I can sit all day in front of this box and "Zone out". This weekend I have NO kids, however I am going to get a BH victory to complete the set and I expect this will take the better part of a day. Anyway, I'm still basically sticking to one submission a day, for now. {read as} I'm beginning to get motivation to up this rate !

Don't forget that the block are first 30 days block and at a time, they become 70 days blocks.

This weekend I have my son.. I also have him fromj 9-3 monday to fefriday at what he calls "Daddy's school" I've taken him out of PreSchool for the last 5 weeksa of school (don't ask why.. its a long story)) so I don't have much time.. at the moment to stay ahead your making me play till about 2am here
Family is around abour 2-3 nights a week.. so thats even less time.. and I'm busy maintaining 5 web sites.. and trying to run my own Computer related business (Anything and everything to do with computers.. from tuition, web page sesign, hosting, repasirs ewtc.. the works)

I'm battling to submit a game a day..
which is why I wish you'ds slow down..

and why i was only submitting a few games a month..

Good luck with your efforts and praise for your determination..

just remember its supposed to be fun

OMG how do you submit that many games? Wait, no never mind, I have to focus on my project and galciv together. I fear if I learn how to play the small maps fast my addiction for this game would overcome.

Only reason I play Galciv as much as I do is for the Empire!! If it is not fun do not do it! A lot of people online forget this fact.

Hey JT, sorry about nabbing you there, but I'm glad to see that you made that spot up with your last submission. I think you are the victim of block cramming. (The whole square root thing in your latest block). And no, I'm not going to start talking a bunch of smack, I'm just glad to see an emperor still playing after so many have retired. Happy hunting/exploring.

Thanks.. I almose fell out of my captians chair when i saw you slingshot ahead like that.. I was expecting you only to advance by about the same amount as me (maybe slightly more..) not the huge amount you did..

Our latest 30 day blocks i've actually submitted less games than you have so its not from block cramming.. more like block gapping..

from my calculations I should be going up by at least 10,000 / game and i'm only going up by about 6,000 / game this has happened for the laST 4-5 games i've submitted

1260000/4.5825756985= 274,952 for the last 30 day block
60000/sqr(21 games)
60000/4.5825756985 = 13,093

I put the extra loss of about 6,000/game to my bad blocks (I could be wrong

Congradulations BTW... looks like you'll get to the top 10 before me now... I havn't given up... and i never will..

arghhhh....

I just updated to the latest update on SDC of AP / GC and now I just played a game and the submitr score doesn't work.. reckons that I played on a custom map when I didn't

I had set it up to play on my normaL SETTINGS

all AI's on Incredable, huge map, rare planets, tight clusters, Aliance win, minors OFF, mods on.. and using the same party as I normaly do and the Startrek mod... like i normaly do.. game ended in Aliance victory jan 2190, another maso win 60,000 mvp.. clicked to submit the game and up pops a message stating that i can't submit it because i played on a custom map

I have reported it.. but now i have to wasit till Cari or someone can help me

So the end result is that once again I get close to the top10 but never quite getting there... grrrr... this is extreamly frustrating as it also wrecks my stratagy of submitting a game a day like i have done for 21 days in a row now...

I'm soooo pissed off at the moment its just not funny.... ;(

Sorry to hear that, I know the feeling though. When I downloaded PM it somehow swithced my stardock serial number, and I was unable to post for about a week.

By the way, my "Slingshot" was a gome posted ~9:30PM pacific time, and another ~11:00PM pacific time. MV sees this as 2 different days.

If you submit onky 60K games, if you have already N games in a block, adding one game give you:
60K * (N+1) / sqrt(N+1) - 60K * N / sqrt(N) =
60K * sqrt(N+1) - 60K * sqrt(N) =
60K*( sqrt(N*(1+1/N)) - sqrt(N)) =
60K * ( sqrt(N) * sqrt( 1 + 1/N) - sqrt(N)) =
60K * sqrt(N) *(sqrt(1+1/N) - 1).
since sqrt(1 + 1/N) can be approximated to 1 + 1/2N the formula became :
60K * sqrt(N) * (1 + 1/2N - 1) =
60K * sqrt(N)/2N = 30K/sqrt(N).
With N = 20 this gives 6 700. And this is what you are experiencing.

Well, he have a nice submission profile:
one game on the 5/24/04, on other on the 6/16/04 and one other in the 7/15/04. Very nice for some rollercoster effect

And one the 11/13/04, he had one game aged of 121 days and one other of 150 days.
But on the 11/14/04, there was only 1 game aged of 122 days on this block. And he has lost 6K with his submission He has now 1 181K points. But if he doesn't submit any more and a recalc occurs in 10 days, he will have 1 199K points since the games from end of july will enter the block aged from 121 to 150 days. For july, the submission rate is steady, and the drop in submission rate is now in a 70 days block, meaning that the impact on score is lessened.

But you JT qwerk, you have still problem linbked with the following submission:
06/21/04 - 08/03/04 - 08/31/04.
You will experience a nasty gap starting the 11/19/04 that will end the 12/2/4 due to an empty block for games aged from 121 to 150 days. But it should be the last rollercoaster since after that, you will no longer have empty block, since the bad submission period will hit a 70 days block

Scotty is complaining as always that the ship can't take it anymore.. but I keep pushing.. .. this duel between Chipperoo and I are gaining an Audience .. I hope it shows the commitment I have to my empire.. unlike most elpires out there who's leadrs lead from the back line.. I'm always doing my best to further the experience which is Starfleet... you can't lead an empiure from behind a desk.. which is why i'm very active..

All we need is 2-3 more active members and we'll soon be rising up the ranks of the top empires in the metaverse..

So everyone is encxourages to join starfleet and make it great..

Don't forget to check out our web page.. where you can become an officer on the StarShip Enterpwize .. or even get a command of your own once you prove your good (active) enough and not always on shore leave..

Chipperoo why not join Starfleet.. you'r definatly made of the right stuff.. and make your presence known to the metaverse.. instead of being one of the many minions of the Galactic Guardians where your skills get lost in the crowd..

Same with anyone else who feels lost, abandoned, restless, depressed, unapreciated... you are all welcome to join Starfleet with an active and helpful commander like myself..

Mayito888: is doing very well.. and helping the empire more than he knows... you don't need to get big scores.. just be an active member in the empire ...

DesertFox:is alsoi doing very well.. and active in many ways..

Good work Team... Keep it up....

Chip, I want to assure you that we do not think you are lost in the crowd. That's why we made you our cheerleader. Let's hear one for the Guardians, the FIRST in the Meta!

If/When you join StarFleet we will give you back your dignity.. which you have worked so hard to achieve.. That of a Talented,Active officer.. who has shown wothout doubt your skills in playing the game.. and not just sitting on the side lines chearing others on..
