Has this turned into a GalGuard thread... sheesh...

the mention of cheese and all the rats come out...

Sorry i'd made a typo.. sips = ships... as in "I don't edit/modify any ship, anomoly, event, improvements and its not cheating as the computer benifits from all the changes i make
as well as i do...

Thanks Chip..

not bad for an empire with only 3 active players..and only 1 playing maso... just goes to show that other levels DO make a difference too.. all it takes is players to submit scores.. no matter how small

we constintly apear in the top 10 empires in the ALTMETA ..

great work team...

Chip, There is a target, but its a friendly one, And I got a no military Crip win tonight I I can throw one of those friendly targets on JT's back as I slowly creep upward.

JT, DF, ??, (sorry I don't know your third player off hand). You guys are doing a hell of a job. I play up and down the ladder so I can keep the fun in the game so I know hpw much the non maso players can contribute.

Ok, 'nuff said, your thread again...

So J.T.Qwerk, what is your trick?

#929  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 11/24/2004 4:21:43 AM

If i tell you then id have to kill you..

you are noty yet ready to handle such power...

If you were you'd be able to work it out for your self... And besides I wouldn't want to start another cheese fest... then have stardock get rid of yet another cheesy tactic..

Serously though If you really want to know.. then email me.. with a trick that I don't know... and i'll tell you (not that you need it... I'm sure you have some secret tactics that you use to give you an edge.. my email is cameron@ecn.net.au Email ..

The main reason that i never give out cheese tactics trhat i find now is that most of what i used to do has been quashed...

like on the last turn paying outlandishly small bribes over exorbitant periods like 1000 turns to get everyone close to me.. now there is a cap inplace of 50 turns... for any single bribe..

But I will tell tose who don't need it privatly.. as I don't want everyone using it unless they work it oujt for themslves

ahhhh.... stuff it.... here goes.. against my better judgement...

what am i saying.....no.... (internal fight going on in my head... I want to share.. but something keeps stopping me....)

I will say however i'll party till the cows come home.. its not a cheat or illeagle.. but it is definatly cheese....

Ok.... I'll tewll you this muc.. I have mentioned itr in this message... for those cleaver enough to work it out.. then email me cameron@ecn.net.au Email and i'll tell you if your right or not...

If enough people guess it then and only then i'll make it public for all to see , use and abuse till stardock gets rid of it... bECAUSE IT IS VERY CHEESY... and when it gets known then people WILL comnplain about it.. like ALL the other cheesy tactics

single bribe...

Hmmm...

Yup, I've used this tactic a few times!

I am still not getting notifications! I will visit here everyday and not rely on being notified! I am almost done with my current game. Two games crashing on me in a row killed my submissions this month.

I have 2 new recruits on the way JT Qwwerk sir! Greenhorns but neverless they will most likely sign up!

I have been asking him myself I will figure out my own method one day.

has the magfnifying glass got a red "X" through it .. If not then you're not watching this thread

click on it to toggle watching the thread..

Sounds great.. I'm used to training cadets by now... and it really makes me cry when they leave home...

back when i was emperor for the Anzacs I had it happen to me 3 times Bulk exoduses the last time it happened I showd the metaverse my anger.. and left the anzacs myself... which then put me in the bad books with a lot of people... sure some understood.. but most said "How could you destroy the empire like that... Its something that I'm not proud of... but since then there hasn't been such empire hopping going on like it was... there is once again more loyalty to epires and their emperors... so much so that I can't convert anyone to join the epire anymore....

remember alwwysa save your games about every 2 years.. that way if it crashes you can still load it back up again..

Peace has worked out (not guessed) how I can see the full starmap (main screen and mini map) from the start of the game and has recieved the prize for doing so... are there any other of you out there who want this little bit of cheese to party on..... If so then email me on how you think I do it... and if your correct you too can recieve the prize...

Yes I been here for a while I have a long watched list and wondered why I am not getting notifications like I was. Something to do with the Library being messed up. Both occured at the same time.

I have no idea how one would see the entire map. If you want to slip me a note I would not object!!

I don't expect anyone leaving our Empire anytime soon. Some may stop playing but you make our empire fun to be in. Always entertaining posts in the Empire thread etc. I look forward to when we start up a new Empire for GC2. I had considered starting up the NeoTech Alliance Empire but not with our Empire doing so well.

DF you already have it.. I did send you an email a long time ago about it.. it included a file.. nudge.. nudge... wink.. wink... say no more... said the blind man to his deaf wife...

I think I may PARTY ON without this little cheese.
I have plenty of other tactics to win.

#936  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 11/27/2004 5:48:57 PM

.... I didn't say that I needed or even used the cheese.... just that those who were going through the run save enable cheat mode look at map.. then reload save .. that they might be interested.. and that I've not used cheatmode for at least 6 months now

#937  by Citizen Evil Druid - 11/27/2004 7:25:51 PM

I sometimes just load galciv twice. Load the start save to the 2nd running galciv and I can look at start game map any time I want. Hows that for stinky cheese.

#938  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 11/27/2004 9:36:48 PM

there are still lots of so called cheesy tactics out there.. my beliefe is that so long as it works and doesn't give you an advantage over the computer then by all means use it .. My way gives both AI and human players the added bonuses... so I don't class it as cheating.. and obvously neither does stardock because its a ligitimat setting.. it doesn't trip any anomolous score flags.. However I can see that it is open to total missuse... and if enough people start abusing it then stardock will place limits on its use just like they have inplace with the PQ stats.. so if you've worked out how i do it.. then be prepaired for stardock to close or restrict its use..

Sounds more like your evening the battle field. The aliens know where the yellow are at Maso, it is only you that don't.

#940  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 11/27/2004 10:11:35 PM

in my games i don't just alter thhose setting there are others.. that can be altered to make the game totally in realistic.. however the computer droes get these benifits too.. so you arn't at an advantage.. but it does make for some very interesting games... Like how about being able to play a game where anyone can get to anywhere on any map a a single turn.. build what ever you want in a single turn.. research what ever you want in a single turn... have no trade route penewltys for playing evil.. (when i talk about building/researching any item in a single turn.. i do mean one Item at a time.. if you have the pre-requisets to do that one item

But don't forget tthat what i said.. the computer also gets all these benifits as well ... so its no real advandage.. it can be extreamly detrimental IF you loose these abilities...
because from what I've seen.. the computer doesn't loose them...

So I don't go overboard with them.. and i never apply tham all in any one game...

That would be like playing a completly different game.

#942  by Veteran Cosmic Fox - 11/27/2004 10:52:29 PM

I avoid the cheesy tactics or I would get bored fast. I use Icho_Tolot Mods, Mosers, and a few added events with anomalies. Most cheese I did was colonize a 14 world and sold it off too minor race for techs.

Another game done.. almost at 100,000 my next goal.

#943  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 11/27/2004 11:00:09 PM

i know it would be completly different which is why I don't do it... but there are those out there who would... which is why i'm warning them about using these tactics as Stardock I dare say would class it as cheating if enough people do it.. or if someone were to take it to the extreams.. without balancing them .. I balance them with negatives as well..

I only hope that they don't think that i'm cheating.. and stip my games... I have spoken to cari about it a little.. and she hasn't said anything about it to me.. so i'm hoping that it'll be ok to keep going as i am..

great work DF keep going...

The AI all set out to do one thing. Destroy the Terrans. They don't "want" diplomacy although they will be an ally if you bribe the hell out them. They usually won't even ally with each other, at least at maso. Destrution is all they want. The job of the Terran Commander is to win at all costs. Type of victory is not as important victory itself. The game is based in survival of the human race. Take that and apply that to "real life" scenerio and we would do everything possible not only to level the playing field, but to alter the rules to our advantage. For example, slap a few negatives picks in a self built pol party, jack the other traits up through the roof and you are on your way to victory. Or, set everyone to neutral, you take good morality with high research, and take a military victory with Paladins while they are still reasearching Battleships. I have used both of these tactics while learning how to play at maso level. I use standard Reasearch Inc now and am heavily modded but I have learned enough about the behavior of the game to do that. I wouldn't consider any tactic that worked as cheesy. After all you are just trying to survive.

#945  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 11/27/2004 11:42:39 PM

I agree... people only think of tactics that others use to win as cheesy.. because that don't use them.. or don't want to think that anyone has found tactics that are better than their own.. even using mods can be classed as cheesy... by some... by others if you win anyway except military battles etc.. is classed as a cheesy tactic to win..

ALL is Fair war...just because others don't think of your tactic and you win.. then they reckon you cherated... such has been shown through the history of war... mistakes... bad thinking... not thinking that your enemy is going to do is how they win... ... if someone can stick it to you they will.. so stick it to them first... after all this is WAR!!!!!!!

The aliens know where the yellow are at Maso, it is only you that don't.

Yes, but stellar cartograpphy can change this.

I use standard Reasearch Inc

It is nice too see standard next to a mod pol party

#949  by Veteran Cosmic Fox - 11/28/2004 1:13:48 PM

I consider "exploits" as cheesy. It is just my own thing I could care less what anyone else does unless we are competing head to head.

I only find some tactics helpful I only use the ones that fit my playing style. Thanks Qwerk and everyone for discussing them.
