I'd like to thank the jedi republic for keeping this thread active.. it just shows you how many Trekies there are out there that arn't (at this stage) willing to commit themselves to StarFleet .. but still like to drop in and chat. Just goes to show what our public relations and culture centers arn't a waste of money.. soon they'll be flipping over to our empire (hopefully) the more the merrier

I'd also like to take the chance to welcome another new member to StarFleet.. they name is "DeadZoneMDx" looks like they are new to GalVic as well as Starfleet.. please join me in making them feel welcome

Your welcome. I do love Star Trek. I've never denied it. (Sounds so weird coming from someone in the Jedi Republic )

Welcome MDx to Starfleet. I'm assuming by your name that your favorite charactor is Dr. Bashir?

#109  by Veteran Grand_Admiral_Thrawn - 2/18/2004 9:25:47 PM

Down here (Tennessee) we don't see Enterprise until Sunday because UPN shows Vanderbuilt BB games instead. Really annoying, but I get to watch TNG on Spike instead.

Decided to change it, I do prefer Lt. Malcolm Reed to be honest

And Im in England, so we are like many many many espisodes behind you on Enterprise

Hmm. I think your ship is without a tactical officer. Just make it Lt. Weed and you'll fit right in with this wacky crew. Don't mind me, though. I am just a wandering space pirate passing through. Now, hand me your loot! (And thus it becomes apparent why Capt. Qwerk needs a competent tactical officer.)

I'm in France, so I'm far behind! I catch up once every month, when the episodes are available on the internet. Even voyager was not on TV over here.

Well, then I don't need to be that eager. At least in the similar story in voyager, I could look (stare) at seven of nine . Enterprise's Dr isn't nearly as appealing...

From what I have seen recently, Archer has just become abusive and desperate. I think they are trying to make him seem more human and relateable to the average person, but it doesn't seem right.
Besides, on Enterprise we have T'Pol to look at. I think there was an episode that just was shown here recently that was too far over the line though.

And indeed she does have many things to look at

Trip is really lucky

Archer has just become abusive and desperate.

Agreed

Not sure which one you're refering too. As far as I am concerned she can step over all the lines she want...

#116  by Veteran Grand_Admiral_Thrawn - 2/19/2004 9:17:08 AM

I was referring to the one where she got naked with Trip. Not sure when it was shown, so I don't know if you have seen it.

I must have blacked out

It does ring a bell now (sort of). Thogh I don't remember ever seeing a nude scene on any ST series. Except for that and 7of9 back in one of the episodes.

Yet that's clearly why they're there (Seven and T'pol).

That's something I don't understand about US productions: you can see & suggest almost anything as long as it is about violance against other people (even in ST universe, we have wars, diseases, etc --- with some tough episodes in DS9). However, if a woman shows her breast in public during her performance (like recently) it is a big scandal. And we see much more than that just by watching TV commercials!

I just had another example of this double standard recently: in a movie, with a big bodycount too (Equilibrium I think), at some point there is a scene where dogs are shot. But it is out of question to show such a shocking scene to the public, so you just see people firing at them, and you hear the dogs "screaming" (forgot the english word for the dog "equivalent"). It's ok to kill people and show it with a lot of details and minutia, but a dog that's just too evil . Does anyone have an explanation for this?

Redneck joke for my friends at the Enterprise

The Light

In the back woods of Kentucky, the redneck's wife went into labor in the middle of the night, and the doctor was called out to assist in the delivery. Since there was no electricity, the doctor handed the father-to be a lantern and said, "Here, you hold this high so I can see what I'm doing."

Soon, a baby boy was brought into the world. "Whoa there," said the doctor. "Don't be in a rush to put the lantern down...I think there's yet another one to come."

Sure enough, within minutes he had delivered a baby girl. "No, no, don't be in a great hurry to be putting down that lantern. . . It seems there's yet another one in there!" cried the doctor.

The Redneck scratched his head in bewilderment, and asked the doctor, "Do you think it's the light that's attractin' 'em?"

I think it was the first time they did the Vulcan neuro pressure thing. She takes her shirt off and you can see the WHOLE side of her breast. (excluding a nipple)

When downloading enterprise episodes once I stumbled over a video of Tpol (the actress) -- if it was her actually (you never know with internet). And there was much more to see than a "whole side" in it. I was even surprised -- and that would take a lot
