if someone wants to have 25 different players to help his empire to go up, good luck to him, who cares? It is very childish and stupid to get upset because someone wants 25 different names, stil that person HAS TO PLAY THE GAMES it is not like he can use the same game 25 times, YOU STILL HAVE TO PLAY THE GAMES I am sick tired of people complaining because someone has 2 or 3 players under his name, what is the big deal about it? THIS IS A GAME

Now the trueth about why your pissed off comes out... you don't care about the rules... you'd rather we didn't have any

If you'd bother to have read my reply in the other forum.. then youd have bloody well have seen why... even Cari didn't realise that it couyld be misused like i pointed out...

and as for stirring it up... I've been defending my actions against ppl like you who have taken things far to personaly... as you say its only a game... so why are you so pissed off.... If the show fits then wear it...

All this because i pointed out the loop hole and stated my opinion on the subject...
and wombat is correct... it has no effect on what we is wanting to do... you can still retirre as normal and start a new persona.. or change your player to get rid of your old player all together its up to you.... you just can't have more than one active player thats it...

Actually, you can. There is nothing that stops you from submitting from both characters. Stardock and said you shouldn't but that haven't yet prohibited someone from doing it. And, if that person were to keep his two personas quiet, no one would probably ever notice. Unless, of course, someone is so paranoid about it that they investigate every play in the 'verse to make sure that are following the "rules."

It is not good to hurt the Fox emotionally as he will come back to bite you! This hurts me because this is my only outlet, playing with the Empire. Now its being spoiled by an immature attitude.

There are rules of course for this game and any game. JT was pointing it out, and did not point a finger at anyone in particular, yet you decided to leave anyways. It is childish to act like this Mayito and I am sorry I am done playing these silly games. You should stop being the way you are and know that no one was blaming you.

It seems your not into doing that and it hurts me badly. Expect me not to be nice as I will not be.

I am sorry Mayito, but you really are going overboard on this issue. I wish you would not be this way but all I can do is wish. Thanks for rejoining the empire but not playing will decrease your score not helping us at all.

The best thing you could have done was say you were sorry for over reacting and it would have all been fine. To keep acting like someone was talking about you directly is the stupidiest thing I ever heard or seen in my entire life.

DF,
I can understand your frustration. You are working had for the Empire you love to play in. I only offer the following advice, please take it in the love that it is given: Bitterness is the only poisone one takes hoping to kill someone else.

Let it go, enjoy the game, build your empire.

cheers

Like you all see you are right and I am wrong, so for that reason my apologies, but as I stated before this game is over for me, I will wait for GC-II to play the newest version.

#1431  by Citizen Disciple777 - 2/24/2005 8:51:51 PM

So my apologies to you DF and JT, have been fun until this issue where everyone have a different vision, I particularly don't see anything wrong with having 2 players, everything depends in what you want to do, I was trying to have some fun having a twin evil brother smoker of sacred grass and krazy as a wild horse. That was the whole idea. But now is no longer fun. So like I said before goodbye until the new game comes out.

I do not see any problems having more then one player either. It only is a problem when someone is using it to cheat.

Like we all keep saying over and over, no one was pointing fingers at anyone. Yet you decided to take it all personally. Makes no sense to me and all of this is stressing me major, yet nothing has changed. Your still having an attitude. Okay take care then Mayito, wish it could be different but I have enough problems without having one with a game I love.

Yes once my site is back online I will calm down. Too many things are going wrong all at one time. Thanks passingbye.. very nice comment!

I am having an attitude? You are my friend and instead of seeing what I am talking about you just took sides, you as my friend should have remained impartial, you never has seen me judging you or any one else about this game, my only problem is that is not fair to accuse one person for trying to help his empire to go up, I already explained why I had two players, I also explained that I asked Carielf to merge both of them, what else you want me to do? I really cannot understand why you are so upset with me. Put yourself in my shoes and tell me how would you feel. I don't care about rules that are not existent, if Stardock says this is not allowed then fine, but meanwhile I don't care about rules that don't exist, when I saw Carielf post where she said that will not be allowed anymore, I inmediately sent her an e-mail and asked her to merge my accounts to solve this problem, but what I got back, you my friend and TJ attacking me because I don't agree with your opinion, hello everyone is allowed to have his own point of view, mine is that I didn't see anything wrong as long as you play the games, now if you use the same game for both players then we have a problem, but so far that I know no one has done that, for me was exciting to have my two players going head to head against each other, it was fun, and I think that you all have lost the sight on this issue, this is a game to HAVE FUN that is the goal of all this whole foum, game, society, friendship and empires, TO HAVE FUN, not to get all upset about how many players you have or you don't have, just play the game for FUN that is the whole issue, but when this game becomes a witch hunt against those players who have 2 or more aliases, or againts a empire because is at the top of the list way ahead of everyone, then it is no longer fun.

#1435  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 2/24/2005 9:47:01 PM

I only hope stardock is going to fix thios quickly as it'll just flare all uyp again when the fix is implimented... and that won't be nice... I just want the metaverse to be as Stardock designed it.. and everyone playing on the same field so to speak..
I do keep asking Cari about the status of the fix... so far i think they are still discussing it... I've explained to Cari that some ppl arn't happy with the one active player rule... and that the fix needs to be done(what ever / however they decide to do it or not) quickly as to be of less damaging as possible... and to get things running smoothly again... and not months down the track as it'll stir things up again

#1436  by Citizen Disciple777 - 2/24/2005 9:55:27 PM

DF and JT you are my friends and I will not let this game or any disagreement we have about how it should be run interfere with our friendship, so if I stepped on some toes, I apologize, I am cool now so I see your points, mine were very selfish and silly to be more precise, so I am backj on the empire and hopefully like JT said all this mess will be fixed. So we are back in six please, so to make me happy submit some games

#1437  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 2/24/2005 10:23:51 PM

lol... i've submitted 26 games already this month...

#1438  by Citizen Wild Wombat - 2/24/2005 11:03:30 PM

Um...I feel slightly responsible for opening this can of worms in the first place - I assure you that under no circumnstances did I believe anyone was using aliases for cheating or boosting empire scores. I just wanted an opinion/ruling based on being an old player with lots of game baggage wanting to know if starting afresh was possible/acceptable to the gaming group.

My take on CariElf's post is that starting a new alias at present is OK, the presumption being that you're leaving behind an old one (retired) in order to start a new one. Cool.

Desert Fox: absolutely understandable that gaming in a fun supportive community is an excellent stress relief, and when THAT seems hard and Real Life stuffs up too - recipe for disaster. This is still a haven - dust ups here have a tendency to settle really quickly, so stay in touch.

Mayito: when people read Post #1422 where Mayito says he is leaving forever, I guess most newer players didn't realise that this was actually the 1422nd time Mayito has threatened to leave and never return The man is a FireCracker! I just see that he's happily back in the fold, and from the time stamps I calculate this took only 26mins 35 secs - I can assure everyone this is a new GalCiv record and I congratulate Mayito!!!

JT: You made a good point, and Stardock got it. I dont see any time pressure on the fix, as we all understand the situation now and no doubt they will build it in as they design the GCII Meta.

Blessings to all.

So wombat have you decided yet on which empire your new player (if you start one) is going to be in...

no preasure...

its totaly up to you... Just interested to know as you are an old and dear friend in the metaverse... liked and admired by many... including me

#1440  by Veteran Evil Roy - 2/25/2005 12:57:50 AM

and i too should apologise - those of you with the adcott binary translator would see that i tempted mayito/krazyhorse to park krazyhorse back in the foundation so that the Captain wouldn't have a double account in his own ranks while he was pointing out the scoring 'problems' associated with double accounts. so i am very happy that mayito is back where he belongs. as wombie says - an all-time record!

#1441  by Citizen Chipperoo - 2/25/2005 12:59:58 AM

Gentlemen, I am a bit reticent about posting the following, but do so ony because I am MORE hesitant not to. If my post engenders any ill will, kindly e-mail me directly, hoopsnut@aol.com Email, as I do not wish to cause a continuance of this discussion beyond this post! That having been said, here is my take on this issue...

JT brought up an issue that has obviously been troubling him for some time. And a valid issue it is! If exploitation of this "loophole" was truly going on and we KNEW it, most of us would be extremely PO'd. However, none of us know of any such instance currently going on, and yet the "C" word (cheat) was left dangling in the air with no direct attachment to any individual. Naturally, anyone with multiple accounts would certainly notice this and, in fact, some (Mayito, AND others) took it as a "hint".

Now before you start replying to this message without reading it in its entirety, let me state that I know that JT and DF NEVER accused anyone of cheating, but merely of the possibility of it occuring under the current rules as they are now. Fair enough, I see the possibility as well!

Mayito, in his defence, did what he thought was the honorable thing to do...remove himself from the empire who's leader brought this issue up. KUDO'S to you sir! Unfortunately, this action was interpreted as a slight to the empire, and the ensuing discussions rapidly spiralled downward.

I am not a member of this empire, but I know how much it means to JT, and now I know how much it means to DF. Mayito, obviously, equally cares hence his rejoining.

I would hope that you three gents could discuss this matter privately so that ALL of you could could be in accord once more.

All that I have written in this post is based on my "recall" of previous posts in this thread and the one on the main forum board. I have no relationship with any party here aside from forum interaction in the metaverse. I just hate to see ill feelings amongst any, and as I see it this is really just a case of misunderstanding one anothers intentions/actions.

I hope ya'all can resolve this rather than sweeping it under the proverbial rug.

I have written this about ten times and hit have not hit the post botton because I did not to make matters worse.

First of all I totally misunderstood what JT was trying to say and I apoligize for that. I think Mayito handled himself with nothing but class. Who would not feel hurt if you were doing something for fun and in good faith and was turned against you in a way you never thought of.

Poor Wombat all he did was ask a simple question and all hell breaks loose.

#1443  by Diplomat Blue_Steel - 2/25/2005 1:41:38 AM

Thanks one and all.. I to respect Mayito as i stated when he took his twin out of the empire... I thought he was doing it because he had (has) the highest respoect for Starfleet...

I never meant this to get blown all out of porportion like it was..and your right i've had this in my mind for about 12 months... but knew once it was brought up that this might happen.. so i kept my mouth shut... (I wish now that i'd spoken up ealier .. so that it wouldn't have effected so many players)

I've sent mayito a pvt msg and DF and I have been chatting on msn... so everything is settling down...

I'm sorry that so many ppl misunderstood me... and for any agrovation it has caused

(PS: I almost quit on 3 different occasions during this insodent... written many many msgs and not posted them... as not to keep stirring the pot)

Lets get back to what this thread is meant to be about ... thats Starfleet.. and funny stories about the metaverse StarTrek parody style... please use the other forum for any more talk on this subject so that this thread can get back to what it was designed for..

#1444  by Diplomat Peace Phoenix - 2/25/2005 3:31:05 AM

I know, this post will be off topic, but I need to speak.

In order for everyone here to understand why cheating is a so hot topic for Mayito, you should know that:
- the current account is not his first
- in June, Stardock has conduct a metaverse audit (http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?id=177400&BID=GF Link). With the result of their audit, they decided that 2 people where guilty of cheating.
- Mayito's first account was one of them, the other was Lothmorg The Black, top player of the metaverse at the time that managed to submit multiple 60 K 1.13 gigatnic maso win
- Only Mayito tries to defend himself in the thread. You can spot easily his posts since they have only his title (Veteran) witout any name behind them

Now about Mayito's reactions in various threads, any old members knows that Mayito want to have fun with Role Playing, even if others disagree. You may find threads he has started in page 2 or 3 of the empire forum. His Roleplaying habits have started some flamewars if I remember well. And he has been member in many empires as well as starting some.

One key point to remember with Mayito is that he is here for fun. You may not have the same definition than him about fun, but you all should keep in mind that he is here for fun. If he doesn't think that he will experience fun here, he will leave. Even if he came back in the future (in hours, days or months).

BTW, I personnaly think that Mayito was very responsible to decide to have Krazy leaving Starfleet. It was easier for JT Qwerk to hold his view since he wouldn't be accused of saying one thing and doing another.

I also think that DF has a bit overreacted, since as he states:
Yes this is only a GAME but it is something I take very seriously. I need this game and Space Empires to keep sane.

This attitude can be very dangerous on any forum. And Mayito could tell you this since sometimes, RL problems had him making posts that have degenerated.
Sure DF you need this game to keep sane. I can understand it. But don't take it too seriously, please, on Galciv forums.

And to avoid any mistake: I just want to explain some things and express my point of view. I don't intend to attack anyone. If you have seen attacks in my post, please forgive me.

anyone wishing to continue please do as i have done.. I want to keep these msgs out of the StarFleet thread... I know.. I know... I should have done this earlier.. my bad ... sorry

#1446  by Citizen Walldorf2000 - 2/25/2005 6:48:39 AM

Thanks JT. I have added a new proposal to the thread in the main forum
http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?id=200562&BID=GF&page=3#200950 Link

This way both would be possible. Multiple accounts for split personalities like Mayito and a fair competition of empires.

The only problem I see that it would cost significant effort by Stardock.

Maybe you can have a look at it and use your contacts to Stardock to ask them what they thing about it.

Oh my goodness thats a the largest cluster of page-long posts I've seen in days. Btw neotechgaming.com is back and so is the third issue of the metaverse pulse news! go ahead and read it !!!!!

Just for the records, I was not taking sides I was merely telling you that YOU were taking everything being said wrong. Look at your posts, I did not say you were doing anything wrong, (besides taking what was said wrong ) and neither did anyone else. That is the attitude I was referring to!

Yes we are all friends but you were being so bullheaded I had enough. Like I said, this is my only good time playing galciv and the Empire. This sort of crap spoils it for me. This is why I was upset no other reason, certainly NONE that you listed!

Okay it seems we are all looking at this topic in a better light. JT is a good guy and NEVER, like myself, tries to start problems. We both are misunderstood quite often. No harm no foul, I did over react with the "Have a nice life" stuff.

Long live the Empire(s) and the good people who regularly play in them!

Peace Phoenix, your comments are always welcomed! Though you really should know the meaning of that statement before you make remarks. I do not mean it as it sounds, Mayito is my best buddy, he and I go way back all know all his history. He knows mine, I am very sick, with that said, this game, the site etc are all that keep me going, motivates me, helps me keep positive and not be negative which leads to being sicker. You see I did not mean as you thought!

You meant well I know but I wanted to clarify being you pointed out my statement. Also, the whole point here is that Mayito took what was being said wrong. Thats it in a nut shell.

Btw, do you keep a freaking diary of the entire website??

Sure. But someone else could have reacted in the same way

Btw, do you keep a freaking diary of the entire website??

No. But some things leave a greater mark in my memories than others
