I hope everyone noticed that my political rhetoric was a little on the absurd side. |
|
Your post was obviously meant for humor.
I don't want to point fingers, but talk like that can, and will blow up into something that I really don't want to read about here.
Sorry about being the party pooper. I hope everyone will understand.

The combined forces of the Jedi Republic, Special Forces, and GROSS will crush you... the competition. |

Keep talking.

That depends a lot on where you live or where you refer to but I would say a far more popular than soccer |

And about as informed as your typical soccer hooligan mob.

ahem....INDEED.......I'm feeling mostly crushed already! I mean, sometimes I wonder...why bother? |
|
So you can get second and crush the Euros.

I'm saying the future of our entire race is endangered when an idiot like G.W.B. is allowed to rule and especially a country with nukes... |
|
Stiff-necked American foriegn policy, courtesy of another (obviously idiotic) President - Mr. Reagan - removed the shadow of Soviet nuclear weapons from Europe. Forcing them to try to keep pace with us in an "idiotic" arms race shattered their economy, and dethroned a regime that openly advocated the end of democracies across the globe. You're sleeping a touch easier this evening thanks to the "idiocy" of our leaders, and we appreciate your overwhelming gratitude.
There are many in these parts who would welcome a political debate that doesn't rely on derogatory comments about intelligence to make a point. A thread exists for just such arguments. If I were to respond to your original question about GMT and the metric system with the same flavor as you've used here, it would run along the lines of "Isn't that European? It must suck then." Wow, that would really advance the argument.
I work for a European company. I think German beer is wonderful. I think Italian cars are fantastic. I think French brunettes, Irish redheads and Scandinavian blondes are outstanding natural resources. I think Europe's contributions to art, literature, culture and history are undeniable. But I also think the current trend of USA-bashing in several European countries is uncalled for, considering our shared history over the past century of standing shoulder-to-shoulder against tyranny.
If you're concerned about Bush's policies or even his personality, that's fine; if you state those views openly and fairly, you'd probably find a few people on this side of the pond that would agree. But calling someone an "idiot" is unlikely to advance your argument. Just my 2 B.C.s, as an "egoistic" American.
Edit: While composing, I see the thread has proceeded away from politics at warp speed. 'Twas not my intention to re-open a can of worms that closed while I wasn't looking; my apologies.

Who's crushing the Euros? I can't remember who's on who's team! I'm a visual person. I need pictures! On my keyboard, I don't have letters, just pictures. A furry Cat for 'C'... a nice Tree for 'T'...

So convince G. and PBP to hoist a new version of the Jolly Roger for a month...new logos might catch on!

That's my kind of politics! Can someone decorate the First Clone War website with pictures of those resources?
