I dunno about wasting space, but I've been know to waste a few planets. Generally, they are Yor in habited, so it's no REALLY big loss.

The Gauls are all wiped out now. I've also taken down the Thracians and Carthaginians, and I'm nearly done with the Greeks.
At one point I found a city had got too big and overpopulated, and I could no longer keep control even with low taxes. So I moved my army out and let the citizens seize power. The Senate offered to pay me 10,000 denarii to deal with the rebellion, which I did by reinvading and then massacring three-quarters of the population and looting their bodies. The city was now small enough to be manageable, so I could now put taxes back up. I made a fortune. And when you've got a big city with lots of farmland and low population, you get enormous population growth, and eventually you have to do it again.
But I've got so powerful now that the Senate offers me threats instead of rewards, because they think I'm going to seize control of Rome. Ingrates! I'll make them pay.
The only problem is I keep confusing the date and the amount of money I have, because in GalCiv the money is counted in BC and in Rome, the date is measured as...
