Another score for the Guardians of Doom!

It's not something I'm proud of. It's a compulsion.

I'm kind of the same way. I try to write in proper English, or at least American. And incorrect spelling bothers me, but I don't usually bother with a spellchecker, I actually just do it in my head, and I'm right about 98% of the time.

#103  by Veteran Samurai Ben - 6/2/2004 11:53:49 PM

However, I'm one of those people whose eyeballs start twitching madly every time they see a word spelt wrong or an incorrect apostrophe.

Aha. A kindred spirit. Or considering my current affiliation, perhaps I should merely say "Indeed."

Matthew, judging from your spelling of "offence" instead of the American "offense," I'm assuming you're on the other side of the big pond. I'm curious about this, wondering whether your use of "spelt" rather than "spelled" is a deliberate typographical error to heighten the irony, or simply a British spelling with which I'm unfamiliar. Based on your wit, I'll take either side of the bet.

Edit: And if explaining the humor defeats its purpose, my apologies. Sometimes, my common sense follows my voice by several minutes.

Ooh. I'm guilty of that.

A weakness which one can live with everywhere except among the family, at work, in relationships, on PC gaming forums...er...

Indeed!

I know it's a little belated, but I'm sorry for your loss.

I don't think so, I use it.

And from the AltMeta, and this is probably out of date by now:

1 Guardians of Doom 1998160 35 7 8
2 Guardians of Justice 1255856 22 6 33

Can I say that these numbers are OBSCENE? Each empire has accumulated at much as the rest of the Meta I think by itself, much less each other. Just stop, now this is almost as bad as the other war.

Keep it up guys, and I'll keep up by 6 a month pace.

Day 2 position....

Guardians of Doom (+ J.T.Qwerk) 2286070
Guardians of Justice 1485605

Keeping up the pace, now an 800K gap. At this rate, the Guardians of Doom will be able to take a holiday in the last week of the month.

You're free to do that this week, if you'd like!

I'm still hoping to see some of our inactive members return but the forces of Good are not giving up!

#111  by Veteran Theoden of Rohan - 6/3/2004 9:21:53 AM

Guardians of Doom = 40 Games (counting J.T. Qwerk)
Guardians of Justice = 27 Games

Hmmm...methinks this is the reason why we're falling behind.

Guardians of Doom = 40 Games (counting J.T. Qwerk)
Guardians of Justice = 27 Games

Guardians of Doom = 10 Members (counting J.T.Qwerk and Mass Destruction)
Guardians of Justice = 33 Members

Hmmm...methinks this is the reason why we're falling behind.

Looks like the Emperor of Justice needs to give his troops a little pep-talk, seeing as he has numerical advantage.

~Jumping around in a Cheerleader fashion~

Give me a G!

Give me an O!

Give me another O!

Give me a D!

What's that spell?

WINNERS!!!

Hmmm...on second thought, maybe I'll just stick with the old standby...

For Honor and Justice!

#114  by Citizen Kazzryl - 6/3/2004 9:45:36 AM

One too many Os there, Theoden! GoD! Or you can spell it backwards and change the G to an M. DOOM, baby!
BOOM for the DOOM!

#115  by Citizen Magnumaniac - 6/3/2004 9:45:37 AM

One too many O's there for spelling "winners". Shoud be Guardians Of Doom.

I don't live on the other side. I live on this side.
I lived in America briefly - I got a job as a programmer for the 3DO games company and came home when they went out of business three months later - so I've learned to be fairly flexible about international spelling.
A look through http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=spelt Link suggests 'spelt' and 'spelled' are equally valid variants. It doesn't say either is British.

Those evil types love hordes of disposable henchmen. Wave attacks are just in their nature. Normally, the good guys would bring out superior training and weaponry to inflict horrible losses for every good man that fell, but the maso arms limitation treaty caps all scores so the good guys lose their usual advantages.

Suggestion from the peanut gallery: neutralizing the key evil leaders any way the good guys can. The minions of evil would then lose momentum and fight among themselves, if the hordes did not desert first. Slave girls mentioned in another thread were a nice suggestion. Of course, if all else fails I am sure I could give Theoden a discount rate for drugging a GoD to take him out of the fight for a little while.

(Gerakken's going to make some creds off of this deal somehow. Can't have a war this big without some contract work.)

Ah, I see that MD has even acquired control of the Meta as well as Nature. Following the booming over Seattle yesterday, he now prevents evil from submitting. Way to go, MD

Downie, did you happen to work on the Might & Magic series during your time at 3DO? MMVII and MMVIII were some of the best games I've ever played!
