Based on the fact that they all had massive diplomatic leads over me even after I built Diplomatic Translators, I'd say none of them picked it in the new game I started today.

There is a simple way (but it cost some times) to find which party an AI have: look in the debug.err file. The election results for the AI are in it.

Maybe the social -20 and moral -30 weren't a good thing for them.

Of course, this opens up a whole new sort of exploit - creating bad political parties that the AI will think are good. "Woohoo!" they will think. "+5000% weapons! I'm sure that's worth putting up with a mere -100% planet quality."

There are a couple of reasons why Diplomacy boosting parties are the only really desirable sort. (1) Diplomacy makes you practically invincible. (2) Diplomacy cannot be got from a resource.
I once tried creating a +100% influence party. I thought I might culture flip the galaxy early on. I didn't. Spontaneous flipping only really starts to occur when you're about 250% ahead in influence. It is possible to get that from influence resources. It is not possible to get that from a political party. Similarly, military resource bonuses are potentially more significant than party bonuses. A couple of +68% military starbases would turn even the Orthodox Downie Church into a contender.
Even economic bonuses are capped - because Stardock knew it was possible to get a bonus of several hundred percent from economic resources, and made sure there was a limit to their effectiveness. (I suppose a significant economic bonus in the early stages would be very useful, however.)
Planet Quality bonuses would make a big difference, but these are forbidden. So we are left with Diplomacy.

Dip +60

Is what makes the party work.

Morale +10
Pop Gro +10
Inf +10
Econ +10
Trade +10

Wonder how high can these be pushed ?

Wep -90
Def -50
HP -50

The reason why AI does not pick this type of party.

I know that pushing PQ too high will trigger a flag which will cause you to get a big fat zero. Could the party give a modest boast say 10 to 20% in PQ ?

Morning Foundation Day 14

Sure. And this is due to the fact that the base for bonus hasn't changed (ie bonus add instead of multiply). If it wasn't the case, you will need 900% (instead of +90%) bonus to counter a -90%.

Good Morning Gents,

I've been busy elsewhere. I'm very much enjoying the discussion in our thread. I will get a game in this week, despite the numerous RL incursions into my Gal Civ universe. It's funny but in a way I have less time being retired than I did when I worked.

Everyone, keep up the good works. (cheers)

Tech, I have a new version of the Metaverse Rag ready to go. The one thing holding it back now is you. You need to get the 3 million mark. How is that for pressure?

Thats a good thing, many people that retire seem to just shut down over time because they do not know how to enjoy themselves.

Mind you I would like to retire but I am at least 15 years away from it. I keep hoping that my wife will get a good paying job and I can become a stay at home dad.

Newfy,

I noticed you played the last game a normal level.

Do you not find it a little easy after playing maso ?

I hope you get a reply to the Metaverse bug you found.

May have to delay the 3 Million party.

Duty calls I may not get home until late tonight and I will be on the road the next few days

Yes and no, I find that the game at this level is relaxing. I go almost straight to war with everyone I meet except the minors. I trade with the carnoids only and fight the rest. At one point last night I was at war with 7 Majors and 3 Minors. I never got past frigats and I had 3 of them at level 8 and the rest between level 4 and 7.

It was kind of fun.

I hope you get a reply to the Metaverse bug you found.

I got a reply to this issue. Pat is going to look into it.

I think that you are going to have to call in sick until after the 3 million.

Yep, I'm mid 40's. Was able to retire at 38. I was then heavily incented (by work) to stay on for 5 more years but I only did 3 and retired. My wife retired (per our plan) when our son was born (5 years ago). One day she called me from home while I was at work. She said my son spoke his first word (more a word fragment). For me, that took the biscuit. I put in my notice and left at 41. Miss the people but being home w/ my family is quite a blessing. Still dabble in the markets now and then as that has always been an interest of mine.

I did my part but I am both grateful and humbled by the blessings I have received from the "man upstairs".
I am probably breaking an unspoken rule, around here, by inferring the "G" word but if you have danced with the devil as I have (in life) you can take whatever else life throws at you.

I'm glad you enjoy time with your family, it is very important. I think its great that you know your blessings come from God, and that you have your priorites straight. Keep God first and He will always bless you and your family. Hope I didn't offend anyone with the refrences to God, but I thought it was important to tell AWW Nuts what I thought about what he said.

And here I thought he was referring to the almighty Guardians.

No, I was talking about the real thing not those who just think they are.

Amen brother, the real Almighty Himself is the real deal. Count your blessings one by one and you will see all what God has done. Sometimes we only pay attention to the difficulties on the road and we miss the beauty that surrounds us.
