Good Morning!

I just got my new computer, after I loaded Doom 3 and was very impressed with that I loaded Galciv. Currently playing a game and I am having a very good time with it.

Haven't really played much galciv lately. I had dusted off an old game called Global Conquest. I am having a blast with this old game.

Newfy, what did you get ?

#1357  by Citizen NewfyScotian - 11/22/2004 11:08:58 AM

Newfy, what did you get ?

AMD 3800+
Abit 3rd eye Mother board
1 gig of Ram
Enermax 450 watt supply
Maxtor 260 Gig SATA
Chenbro case (plain jane, no fancy lights)
Saphire Radeon X800XT platinum edition card
Plextor DVD writer

My installation of windows XP took 4 hours before I figured out why it wasn't working. If I had just read the manual ... @$#%@*&. The final attempt only took 20 minutes.

I can't believe how fast this machine is. I upgraded from a P3 600.

I did a lot of checking of the specs and found that the Fx 53 is the same as the Athalon 64 4000. The 3800+ is very very close in performance to the FX53 / 4000+. The FX55 steps the performance up a bit but I couldn't justify spending that kind of moola.

As it is, according to many of the benchmarking sites I visited the 3800+ system that I built is d@rned HOT!

Now I just have to get the internet and mail working. Install a new antivirus and get the windows XP sp2 installed. Oh yeah, get all the other programs installed that my wife wants.

Wait a minute, she can use the old computer!

Usually helps to "read all the directions" unless of course they're in Tawainese or something. Problem is for me with tech things I don't understand those in English Good thing my wifes in tech support.

Uh-huh, sure. And you can sleep outside with Rover.

My problem is experience ... I used to work as the IT expert in the company I work for. So I suffered from the "Know it all" syndrome. I used to tell everyone to RTFM (Read The Fantastic Manual). I should have applied it to myself.

Yes, I will do that for sure. Right now I have a medium map game going and there is not much of a delay during the autosave, it is almost instantaneous.

With the old computer it would take almost 1 minute when doing an autosave on a medium map. A turn without an autosave would take about 10 - 15 seconds.

An autosave on a Huge map would take 2 - 3 minutes so I always turned them off.

Well, in the right context and under the correct circumstances, both words can be fantastic.

I had a great event in my last game.

The planets in the SOL system received a class increase of 12.

Seems funny having Mars as a class 25 planet.

Every notice that the worst your position is the more likely these event occur to help you out ?

I like it when I get a purple home planet. The greated influence really helps. Also, I have been seeing lately, I don't remember seeing this a lot before, when with the push of a turn button, all the AI, minors and majors show up at once. No cheats, etc.

The Foundation preserves technology for Humanity.

Since the Yor is the highest form of technology in the galaxy, we call the Foundation home.

Stupid humans, already we have Yor implants everywhere soon they will know who their real masters are.

Ignore that it must of been a processor glitch I will check with the Technician.

No.... I mean we serve the Foundation

Tech will fix you right up and make you totally submissive to humans. Do you really want that? Here, try our new liquid Yor drink - guarentted to clean your insides and flush all the metal shards out of your system. Minor side affect is that it leaves you impotent.
