Yesterday I finished a game three times in the same turn after reloading.
1st research the last tech
2nd ally with the last alien
3rd conquer my good friends and destroy all their ships
I was a bit shocked about the ridiculous differences in the scoring system
Remember it was the identical game. Solely the last turn was different! These are the results:
Technology - score is about 22.000
Alliance - score is about 48.000
Military - score is about 58.000
Conclusion: you need to be a war monger to get high scores

The reasoning is Military wins in Theory are harder.
For example you can sit in the corner of a large map keep pressing the turn button and research all techs.
Note it is easy to get a 60000 point Alliance win playing Maso on a gigantic map as my last 600-700 wins
demostrate..

Sure alliance win is possible. The difference is just 10.000 points and thus you simply have to play longer on a bigger map. That's about the same you get for a "military win" when you convert all aliens by culture. Unfortunately gigantic maps are not playable on my old computer.
But 22.000 instead of 58.000 for the same game is ridiculous. And I researched all techs, including the mods from Icho Tolot. I build all these Excaliburs and wonders etc. I just did not want to kill or to ally with the Dregin.
The scoring system is definitely broken. The theory sucks. It makes the technology path worthless for Metaverse. IMHO the technology path is quite hard and lengthy.
Thus I will continue to play my style until the end. Instead of coexistance or cultural domination there will be a very bloody end to get Metaverse scores.

The metaverse scoring system is quite complext search arround the forums and you will find a topic on how it works Pretty hard to understand too.

The metaverse scoring system is quite complex |

Are you speaking about the points for the metaverse ranking or for the calculation of raw points asssociated with a single game (that was Walldorf2000's post)
