Roughly how long does it take for the scores to appear on the metaverse after they're submitted?

Should be pretty well immediate - if the MV is working and they were actually received.

Well, it didn't go through. Should I keep trying and will it give me any confirmation? Usually it just goes blank after I submit then returns me to the main menu

If there is no delay after submission, that is usually a sign that the Meta did not accept you score for somce reason, either it thinks you have already submitted it (perhaps under a different alias, etc.) or the Meta is down and not accepting anything.
I assume on the submission screen you have the correct player name, not your nickname, and the email address you registered under? A mistake that is often made is to submit with the alias name, not the player name.

And yes, if you don't get it in the first time, try again. I have had to use more than one attempt to submit games because the metaverse or Internet connection can fail.
Also you may want to check and make sure your game is recorded on your profile. Recently I forgot to do that and deleted a 60k game that never got recorded. Oh well. Big deal. 99% of submissions work fine. But, it is best to remember to check before overwriting your next EndGameSave.

I've been unable to post to two different players for over a year now. I've tried everything, fresh installs, no mods, no firewall, new user (using different e-mail). |

Send and email to Email and give her you player name and the email address you registered with and ask her to help.
Just to check, go to the metavers page and click on register and see what comes up there. You should see your player name (not your alias) and serial number of the game. If you don't see it there, you need to register your serial number
