GalCiv II - BETA worth purchasing now?

I love GalCiv I, and GalCiv II looks to be even better; one question for those who have done so - is it worth purchasing now to get access to the BETA? When was the last BETA released, how was it, and when is the next BETA scheduled?

Is it worth it?

depends if you like to be involved or you'd rather be 'surprised' by the full release. the current version is playable but with no real balance and lacks diplomacy etc. i believe the next beta (3b) may be only released to a 'select few', thus only leaving beta 4 for those that subscribe to TotalGaming.net.
