sorry, there's no boba, but he'd be a good one to add. He spent a lot of his screen time just standing there, which would be perfect for the diplomacy window.

You're right! He's the standing man!

There should be plenty of ships if you gather from the X-Wing/TIE games or Extended Universe

Hell yeah:

X-Wing
Y-Wing
B-Wing
A-Wing
T-Wing
YT-1300 (Millenium Falcon)
YT-2000
YT-1700
TIE Fighter
TIE Interceptor
TIE Defender
TIE Advanced
TIE Advanced Mk. II
TIE Bomber
Star Destroyer
Victory Star Destroyer
Super Star Destroyer
Corellian Corvette
Advanced Corellian Corvette
Nebulon B Frg.
Advanced Nebulon B

Hell.... There are A LOT more....

i hope someone can answer me this two questions:
if i download the sw-mod, how do i install it?
can i still use the original galciv after installing some mods?

You can install it by unzipping it into the c:\program files\Drengin.net\galciv\ however it will overwrite your current game files that way. I made a backup of the galciv directory before I installed so I could go back if I wanted too. I just named the original galciv orig and the star wars mod one galciv sw and then whichever I want to play I name galciv and run the game.

Yes, all it does is change some graphics and movie clips. It does not alter the game mechanics.

To add to what mykbaker said, the readme that comes with it tells you exactly which files are replaced. If you backup just those files, you don't have to copy that much, perhaps 15 megs or so, but that's just a guess. This doesn't include the music "add-on".

I've only installed the music i.e. space*.mp3. It is almost perfect for GalCiv...

Great mod thanks.... Did have a copuple of problems with Avatars and Overlords not displaying on the map... any ideas?

#34  by Citizen MadMaz - 6/5/2003 7:15:30 AM

No, not really. It doesn't modify any ship-related graphics, as far as I know. I would think that somebody else would have also noticed it by now, at least if it were that serious. I have heard of an invisible ship bug in previous version of galciv. I think they fixed it though. If you're not running the latest update, I'd check the version notes. There's a link to it from within the Stardock app, in the update pane.

Madmaz if you ever need a spot for this project my site might be able to give you forums with file area etc. Stop in visit check it out. Although that is one hefty size mod. http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc/ Link This is our Galciv forums, we support many other games as well.

Great work I hope someone follows up with new ships for SW mod. We need some new ships, redesigns anything. Thrull recoloring of the Drengin was excellent. Even a small change is great to see in my games.

Could someone make a mod just for more ships? WOuld that be possible?

#37  by Citizen Devil GunnerX - 6/11/2003 5:07:01 AM

What kind of ships are you looking for Bloodthirster?

I do have a question to put here, I don't if I should ask here or the MODs forum...Alright, here goes..Is it at all feasible to rework the entire tech tree and have the AI still research the newer techs? And by rework I mean completely change...There are just some ideas banging around inside my head right now, and I'll go mad if I don't let 'em out.

I know a couple of the AI use hard-coded research paths. So, for those AI's, I think the answer is no, but I don't know for sure. I guess it's possible that they can fall back to the algorithm that the other AIs use.

MadMaz,

My 5 year old Thanks you too. He really likes playing this game, but now that Darth is in it, he goes crazy !! I just speak to Darth now and my son starts running around the house yelling. It then gives me time
to make some moves without him.

Please let us know when you update the MOD. Thanks again for investing your time on this.!

Cut and paste in the URL http://galciv.bsd.st/madmaz Link and dowload the updated file (GCiv_Star_Wars_TC_1.1.exe)

#45  by Citizen MadMaz - 6/12/2003 2:25:57 PM

What the hell, Robuk? I've uploaded 3 times in the last hour because I keep forgetting to include certain files. Why are you posting a URL and telling people to download it, when I don't even know if I have a version I want to release. Don't you think I would have posted it?

And for that matter, who are you and how did you know I was uploading it in the first place?

#46  by Citizen robuk - 6/12/2003 2:39:22 PM

eerrrmmm set your permissions then or put a password on the file so it's not available to any unauthorised user like me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or don't upload it until your ready to release it.

All I done was what anyone in the world can do.....

Hey - I was just desperate to get you MOD! Was just about to install it and try it!

#47  by Citizen MadMaz - 6/12/2003 2:41:06 PM

I see how you saw it. I guess LazyBastard has perms set so you can look in the directory. But thanks for being a tool and unnecessarily pissing me off right after I finished all that work. I appreciate it.

In case anybody started downloading, you may want to cancel. I'm still in the process of uploading the final version. It's at 46% and should be done in about 20 minutes. And don't use the URL that guy posted. I'd like to run a counter on it. The URL will be ht tp://blake.prohosting.com/maodi/download/download.pl?login=swgciv&link=ht tp://galciv.bsd.st/madmaz/GCiv_Star_Wars_TC_1.1.exe

I'm going to start another thread with more details, since this mod is qualitatively different than the first.

btw, atomantxxx, that's a funny picture you describe. I'm glad he likes it. It's nice to now that some younger folks favor vader over jarjar. Now all you need to do is find a game that puts him to sleep, and you'll be set

It's not my server. If you want to do stuff like that, fine. But anybody with a modicum of respect wouldn't have gone and posted it in this forum. Given your infantile attitude, you probably don't even get it.

In any case, it looks this forum software doesn't like embedded URLs. So, I edited the above and added some unnecessary space to confuse. So to follow the real link, copy the URL, then remove the space between "ht" and "tp". Note that there's two of them, one in the beginning and in the middle. Sorry.
