(doh, tried posting before but it died and i lost my train of thought...)
"NO we DONT have enoughf V.P.'s but you may be NEXT!"
Ooh, can I put that on my resume and bring ya in for a character reference?
"There aren't autographed copies for sale."
I'm sure your marketing gurus are watching the market, watching and waiting, ready to pounce when the time's right.
"Nor are there any auctions of my old clothes or anything like that on ebay."
Well, of course not - they're not autographed yet.
Hmm... no-one knows what your autograph looks like, do they?
...
(cut to "Dodgy Brothers" ad - two seedy looking guys
in a seedy part of town)
Hi, everybody! I'm Reeli, this is my brother Veerei, and have we got a deal for you! I'm talking real collectibles - actual clothing worn by the famous CariElf!
Look at those rips, those stains... this wasn't worn
once and thrown away! This shirt was loved, like a family member! We had to pull out all the stops to get these on the market, but we'd do it again for our loyal customers!
In an exclusive arrangment with her fashion designer, we've arranged access to her entire stock of, um, out-of-season clothing. (One of the brothers shows off
a jacket with all the buttons ripped off.)
Don't wait! Order in the next 15 minutes and we'll send, at no extra charge, a mystery jockstrap, autographed by a mystery celebrity! When he reveals who he is, these things will skyrocket in value! Pay by credit card, and we'll include a bill for a dirty website you've never even heard of!
(cut to endorsements)
ditzy blonde - "Oh my God! Like, wow! These things are so incredibly incredible! They motivated me to take my power to the highest possible, and even further! If it wasn't for them, I'd be really, really, what's the word, um, DITZY!"
teenage fanboi - "This is so cool! These guys were telling me about some celebrity elf clothing - I was stumped, then I suddenly knew who it was! Who's the most famous elven maiden around? Liv Tyler! The clothes looked pretty ragged, and that's when I realized - they're not just her clothes, they're a costume! FROM THE THIRD MOVIE! Did I make one hell of a deal or what? I've already posted pics to every LoTR fansite I know!"
buff dude - "I owe these rock-hard abs to AbSwing, just five minutes a day and - cut? Whatdya mean, wrong script? Where are you going? YOU PROMISED ME FIVE BUCKS! GET BACK HERE OR I'LL - "
(cut back to the dodgy brothers - one of them is pulling a tracksuit out of a garbage bin and signing it, but quickly hides it behind his back)
Back already? Well, what are you waiting for! Order now! GO!!!
---
Now, back to the tracks... if we're gonna bring up the classics, there's only one that goes with her job...
HELP! I NEED SOMEBODY,
HELP! NOT JUST ANYBODY,
HELP! YOU KNOW I NEED SOMEONE,
HE-E-E-LP!
"help me if you can i need you now, and i do appreciate you being round..." - i think this fan club needs an anthem, and this is it

The sensor drone VP/DJ in training BlueOcean is taking over for DJ MM77 on W.C.a.r.i.e.l.f 104.6 wto bring you a blast from the past (the NINTIES!), dedicated to our one and only.
"Fare thee well
My own true love
Farewell for a while
I'm going away
But I'll be back
Though I go 10,000 miles
10,000 miles
My own true love
10,000 miles or more
The rocks may melt
And the seas may burn
If I should not return
Oh don't you see
That lonesome dove
Sitting on an ivy tree
She's weeping for
Her own true love
As I shall weep for mine
Oh come ye back
My own true love
And stay a while with me
If I had a friend
All on this earth
You've been a friend to me."
That beautiful song was from Mary Chapin Carpenter, entitled "10000 Miles". Although that is an insignificant distance in terms of the interstellar voids we cross regularly, I can say with some confidence that we here at W.C.a.r.i.e.l.f. would go that far and father for our lady, who, if we've had friends on this Earth, has been a friend to us.

CariElf: Hope you're enjoying the adolation of your fanbase, you deserve it. My question is, since you haven't posted any games to the metaverse, are you too busy working on your masterpiece to enjoy it, too busy enjoying the gushing praise, or just not bothering to submit the games?

This is Sensor Drone VP Blue Ocean with the night shift at W.C.a.r.i.E.l.f. 104.6, playing you the best anthems for a life filled with adulation of CariElf. To start us off tonight, I'm going to pull out a little alt rock flavor from Third Eye Blind, who recently released their new album, "Out of the Vein". So from Third Eye Blind, here's, "I Want You".
" . . . Here I am and I want to take a hit
Of your scent and it bit
So deep into my soul.
I want you,
Oh, you do, you do, you do, you do, you do, you do
You're making me want you,
Send me all your vampires.
Oh, you do, you do, you do, you do, you do, you do
You're making me want you,
Send me all your vampires.
And I can't get enough . . ."
I should also mention that CariElf can send me her vampires, any time, any place, and I definitely won't mind. Now, to let's slip into the night's smooth rythm, keeping in mind always the special girl to whom it's all dedicated . . .

OMG, you guys are still at it hehe |

Scarey isn't it?

"Trying to woo her with code seems like a novel idea, afterall, she is obviously a proficient software engineer at the very least. But, methinks all that impersonal computer code lacks charm, finesse. Any well heeled gentleman would know that programs are for computers, and words are for people."
Yeah, but words can be misinterpreted, especially over the internet - that's why they have smileys. Code is crystal clear, but you're right, it's got no character. Hmm... unless you code with emoticons...
quack =
blueocean =
carielf =
while()
if ( __________ )
shove the party hat down his,
throat, so he can't quote any
more poetry, then go back to the top
else if ( __________ )
party! exit
else if ( __________)
run away! exit
}
Mental note: order more smileys.
(oh, and blueocean: j/k mate, I'm not gonna do anything with that party hat. Besides, "we don't need to worry about any other eventualities", like case 1 happening for instance )
Now back to the music -- hmm, you know, I'll bet there are web radio stations out there with even less people listening then here. Maybe we could buy one for 50 bucks. Then, all we need to do is get the programmers to re-work the mp3 playlist so it can stream live audio from the internet, and voila! W.C.a.r.i.E.l.f. streamed live into your empire!
As a bonus, we could give the station the highest ratings in history by forcing all the plebs in our empire to listen to it. Give them all free radios with one setting. And if anyone tries to take it apart to change the channel - hey, that's what the secret police is for...

The Quack:
With your previous post, you seem to have MISUNDERSTOOD some things about me. First of all, you seem to think that having a hat shoved down my throat might somehow dissuade me from pursuit of the divine CariElf. On the contrary, were a fate so wonderful as actually being WITH her the prize, twenty or thirty party hats RIGHT IN THE BELLY would not even make me BLINK.
Your implied fear of party hats being shoved down throats thus leads me to question your depth of commitment to the goddess whose name I am not even worthy to say, though I do it regularly. This is the CariElf Fan Club, NOT the FAIR-WEATHER CariElf Fan club. Party hats are not a item that strikes fear in any true fan's heart.
Now that that business item is dealt with, the night DJ, Sensor Drone VP Blue Ocean will return to serve your CariElf worship needs with our next selection, "Seasons of Love," from the musical -Rent-. I know the season I'm feeling right now is spring, and I hope all you adoring fans out there are singing along with me in this odessey of love. Let the soft sounds of the night take you away . . .

Wow, coding with smiley - now that's whatb I call innoative!
Hm, I think I give it a try, too.... here is the secret revealed... the code on which my brain operates:
if (!workToDo)
playGalCiv();
else
{
work.setPriority(0);
playGalCiv();
}
while (playGalCiv)
{
if (bug)
setMood( );
else
{
if (AI.IQ > YellowSign.IQ)
setMood( );
else
setMood();
}
}
goto(www.galciv.com/forum);
{
if (Mood= )
{
lookFor(CariElf);
while(Mood=)
read(CariElf);
}
if (Mood=)
for (int i=0; i<100; i++)
{
praise(CariElf);
praise(Frogboy);
}
if (Mood=)
{
report(&bug, CariElf);
while(!bug_fixed)
praise(CariElf);
setMood()
playGalCiv();
}
}
