Hey Hermann the Lombard,
I just finished a game were I had a monoply on all trade and see that the major civs traded so much and from looking at their trade routes I'm pretty darn sure that the alien civs profit off of my starbase modules.
Your fellow player,
Jaxel
I think trade bonuses from starbases increase the value of the route itself which would profit both sides. I think I read about someone increasing their pull with a major by increasing the amount of trade with them with trade starbases.
Or are you asking about their routes that go through the same sector? That I know would not get the bonus unless you're allied/sharing starbase bonuses.

G.A.S.: I'm asking about trade routes with my star systems that *they* initiate. With the routes I found myself, I can usually create a trade clump to give a decent boost to my trade income. The routes they found go to semi-random systems from semi-random directions; I'm wondering if I can boost that revenue or if I'd just be wasting constructors (and maintenance).
Actually, I don't have that much control over my own routes since I've been going for *early* routes by trading for freighters. It's unclear to me how the program chooses which of my planets to use; it's not always the nearest and it's almost never the highest-income. I usually try to set up one or two routes myself from the highest-income system...including routes to a "pet minor" when I start fighting former trade partners.
The bcs generated are equal to both trading parties.Anything else you add on(mil, res, def) is yours. You can build sb in other sectors that have freighters go thru them and it was reported that you will gain something as long as they are in the sector.
In reference to the "Allies share the benefit of installed modules on SBs", does the same go for the resource bonuses that you may be mining? For instance if I manage to capture and max out 2 culture resources, would my allies under that UP rule be entitled to the approx 140% influence bonus also?
Hmmm. The more you play the game, the more questions you have.
kasualkid...i've been wondering that as well,
my last 3 games all had the share wealth with allies UP
vote, but i have no idea how to tell if they get bonus,
and do i get bonus...bet RaytheWander knows...
The only bonuses applied between two parties is trade. If you get the up issue starbases will help allies and it is ratified then only military and defense bonuses apply. All other resources are yours and yours alone. If you build up culture modules on a starbase and check the influence box yours will go up but not your ally.
If I mine morale this will not apply to an ally, even if up issue says starbases will help allies.Only military and defense additions will help ally ships.
Trade will be split evenly between the two empires that one has a freighter and the other a starbase. You can also benefit from any freighter that passes thru the sector that has one of your starbases that have trade modules installed even if you aren't trading specifically with that empire, unless you are at war with them.
Hope this helps.

Finally a direct answer! Thank you, kind sir. I never dreamed I could get a benefit from a route that doesn't involve me at either end. It makes some sense, just as the owner of the oasis gets something even if the caravan is just passing through.
Ya'll are welcome to join the Pangaean empire if you wish.
We are a relatively new empire that looks to convert alienraces by use of terror stars converted to party palaces. We use them to convince the aliens to join us or become space dust.

Ah, a futuristic variant on the "permanent floating craps game" AKA "there goes the neighborhood!" Thank you for the invitation, Senator. Let me see if I can break into the top 250 so I'll have something to contribute.
Even if you don't join, you might want to check our thread on occasion anyway. There's a fair amount of strategy discussion there (not so much nowadays what with Ray's semi-retirement, but still more than the other empires).

You don't have to be a high roller to play. There's always room for one more at the PanGaean Party Palaces. Each one has a thousand and one rooms filled with every kind of pleasure imaginable, and a few you'd have to see to believe. And we can always use another overlord. Just spend a day at the party palace and I know you'll never want to leave.
