Hi all, just started playing Gal Civ and so far I'm 1an4 in win/lose. I've been reading the forum posts and I have some questions(the manual really doesn't help you that much I know.)
1. What is cultural bombing?

2. Why shouldn't you build all the improvements on a planet.

3. (noob question) how do I build sattelites without using a constructor on a resource?

4.(somewhat noob question) In one of my games the yor collective became huge.
I was heading toward a research victory, when my people started to perfer them better and defected. Even thou I have all the improvements to help resist that, so is there any way to keep my people from defecting when a neighboring race get's too big?( And yes my morale on each planet was 100% )

Your economy will most likely not be able to support it.

Building lots of cultural starbases near enemy planets and/or colonising low PQ planetsnearby to raise your influence in their sectors. Keep on doing this and eventually their colonies join your empire.

2. Why shouldn't you build all the improvements on a planet.

Most improvements have a maintenance cost and many also offer increases in research/military/ social abilities which you also have to pay half of. Generally I don't build anything with a maintenance over 2bc/year.

3. (noob question) how do I build sattelites without using a constructor on a resource

Not sure what you mean mate

4.(somewhat noob question) In one of my games the yor collective became huge.

See [1]. Plus try to make sure you get all of the influence wonders specifically:

Galactic Guide Book
Pain Amplifiers
Galactic Exhibition
Restaurant of Eternity
Propaganda Machine
Hyper Distribution Centre

I also try to build all of them on the same planet which already has a high influence as many of them give the star a bonus as well and this maximises its effect.

Hope this helped.

I think you mean that on a resource you can get prompted as to whether to build a starbase but you don't get prompted when not on a resource?

You press the little button in the lower right part of the screen. I believe it has a box on it? On some versions you cannot build a starbase within 3 tiles of another starbase unless you are in a different sector. Hope this helps.
