You need three things for a war: money, money, money.
But HOW to get credits? Especially when you have hundreds of planets? If you build improvements, you have to pay the maintenace. The election is coming, you need more cash to lower the tax. Sell your tech to the others? I don't want them to build Terror Stars or Battleships... Sell the tradegoods? But it's too expensive to research and build them.
I've found a hard, but funny way: with high diplomacy ability give 100bc and ask 10 for 12 months. It works! 100bc for 110bc might work too.
Sometimes aliens have much more money then they can get. Once I saw the Drengins when they had 160000bc (160000000000c). I sold them some systems for all of their money, and one month later they treasury was full again. They were a big trading nation, but hundredbillions of credits per month?

Yep, you are basically giving them a loan. The aliens seem to value trades over 15-20 months the best. I usually use 20 months for anything I'm paying them for.

To make serious money, you need to go for trade. I usually pick my trade partners mainly by their military level, adjusted for how much they like me. If there are 3 big military guys, I will send my next freighter to whichever one likes me the least. Of course, they get money from this too, so you need to keep them at war with each other so that they waste most of it.

One of the keys is NOT to build all the improvements on a planet. Building every single possible improvement on a planet is a quick way to go straight into the red.

Build all economic structures (Banking Center, Economic Exchange, Stock Market, etc.) Build all the PQ raising improvements(Soil Enhancement, Habitat Improvement, and Terraforming later on if you can) Production improvements like the power plants are good too.

But when it comes to morale improvements and warship improvements, only build them on the planets where they are needed. You'll probably want to build at least an entertainment center, but beyond that keep an eye on the numbers.

I agree, dont build all (or even most) planetary improvments. Usually, i build all the cheap ones (0-1 maintanance)and all the economy ones, but i rarely build one with 2+ maintanance (definately not 5!!!).
I put these all in the govenor section and then manually build galactic achivments and wonders when a planet has finished.

I build them all, and usually don't have a problem with money. I made lots of money, built almost ever improvment possible, moblized billions of troops, and have at least two fighters and a fleet ship at every system.

Are there plans about inflation in Altarian Prophecy? It could be funny. For example, early in the game one drengin credit is equal with one terran credit. After the drengin economic crash 10 drengin credits are equal with one terran credits. It's a huge boost for import, but ruines export.
Did you know the biggest inflation was in Hungary after the second World War? You got your salary for a month in the morning and could buy a shoe in the afternoon. The highest money was 1 billion trillion!
And I'm NOT Galaxi. I'm Andrew Azzameen, I logged in with this name, it shows I'm Andrew Azzameen at the right corner of the screen, but above my letter, I'm Galaxi. Who knows???

What is your difficulty level? How do you generate money? what are the galaxy settings?
