How can you properly defend a sector in your own space,
because I find a combat transport will sneek past and take an inner planet? I know you can have ships orbiting every planet but the maintenance cost gets very high when doing that. I find that my economy can't support enough ships.

If you are having troble affording ships to defend you planets, try building freighters. They won't survive attack from assualt vessels, but they will prevent the Combat Transports from getting to your worlds. Plus, they have a maintenance of 0.

I build 2 colony ships at each star to make sure I don't get transport rushed.

They are free, and useful. When the world gets too overcrowded and gets a morale too low for my liking, I fill up a colony ship and launch it. And then make a new one at the next convenient opportunity for that star.

Thank you I will give that a try. I am pretty much conquered so i will have to start a new game after I die or win but properly die. It is the first time the Yor have become powerful. Guess why that is? that is right because I helped them.
