What do you gain from mining a Military (red cone) resource?

The in-game info says that it boosts various military attributes. However, after I build a bunch of mining modules onto my starbase to maximize this, I don't see any change in the Attack/Defense/HP stats of my ships.

My question: What exactly DOES the Military resource do for you?

(I do see the benefits of the other resource types come into effect, its just the Military one that is confusing to me)

Since mining military resources increases a percentage of the base stats for a particular ship, the changes are easier to see for bigger ships.

For example: 10% mining a resource

a ship with att=4 and def=4 would show no change since 10% of 4 is 0.4 giving 4.4 for def and 4.4 for att which rounds down to 4 and 4 respectively.

However a ship with att=20 and def=10 would become att=22 and def=11 since 10% of 20 is 2 and 10% of 10 is 1.

Military ressources are very powerfull.

Generally the game does not round but simply cuts the decimals. It's the same with PQ.

When I am about to attack an AI I check to see if he has any military resources mined. Before I attack his ships I destroy the mined military resource. You want every advantage you can get when attacking an AI.

If I am well prepared I will take it over and mine it myself in the same turn to get those benefits.

Hi NewfyScotian,

did you verify that the AI looses the advantage in the same turn and that you get it in the same turn? AFAIK the change is not in effect in the same turn. But I'm not sure.

Maybe this is the answer for the initial post of ProudCanadian

Thanks

I have never verified it but I have often wondered. If the AI doesn't loose the advantage in the same turn that is still ok. There is a benifit to destroying / taking over the military resource.

Hi,

are you sure that military resources also enhance the defense value and not just the attack value?
