There are the special trade goods like Aphrodisiac or Frictionless Clothing that you have to compete to build, or you can sell ships or tech for some quick cash.

I mean if you don't have resources / can't conquer them then:
if you have 100% spending then build +research
if you have less tean 100% spending build more advanced +econ buildings.

Ellestar: Why banking only on planets with higher production? There's no maintenance fee associated, so I either make them a priority, or one of the first things to build when my social queue is empty, depending on the state of my economy.

Well they are on the list, but i playing on Gigantic, and so i need to rushbuy wonders/trade goods. So, i'm building +PQ and +Morale, and on planets with better production finishes Banking Center. I just can't waste production on 1/2 of my planets to build Banking Centers everythere. Also, i'm taking +Econ at the start, so it's not that efficient for me.
P.S. By the way it seems that Fusion Power Plant and Manufacturing Center are also inefficient as long as you don't have 100% spending.

"Are there some buildings that do not need to be built on every planet?"
Wrong question. BUILD AS FEW BUILDINGS AS POSSIBLE. They all cost maintenance.
That doesn“t mean you shouldn“t build. But contemplate every Nickel before you spend it. Build only what is clearly useful.
I have not built a lot of Medical Centers so far, to give but one example.
For more good (or perhaps rather slightly evil) strategies I will come up with, visit -and join!- G.R.O.S.S.!
