Well, I've managed to do reasonably well in my sub-normal game. Unfortunatey, during the late stages of the game (Dreadnaughts) the Dregins manage to completely dominate the parts of the map furthest away from me. I play on large maps, by the way. Anyway, I manage to get dreadnaughts out into space, just the Dregin Dreadnaughts seem to be 100x better than mine. Usually by levels or just have better stats. Are there any suggestions that you can help me with? My econ is fine, but theres is just that much better or they do not need it. Any help would be appreciated.

Dregs like War Party and if you don't, you're 50% hp down right off the bat. You didn't mention tech parity but you need to catch up on military enhancing tech if you aren't (Dregs love those). Lastly, get your scouts out to find their military resources and if you are anticipating a war with them, it is advisable to stage your dreads near those to take them out immediately at the start of hostilities. Just remember that the loss of those SBs only filter through about 2 turns after the SB destruction.

If your econ is good and are flushed with cash, you could also destablise them and hope that their Warparty lose their election and their accompanying hp bonuses.

Sorry about the lack of info.

Our tech is roughly the same. From the time of war. I usually go with the war party myself as well. I don't see the war against them as impossible it just is discouraging to see my dread attack them and hardly make a dent to theirs. My production and economy in late game is pretty decent, but it's not THAT good. Destabalizing is definatly something that I will try though.

Sounds to me then that they are resource-boosted. Make those resources your top priority rather than wasting more dreads head-to-head.

Build those resources up and you should be able to turn the tide against those Dregs

Okay, the Dregs are DEFINATLY going crazy with the tribute. I have advanced espionage on them and saw them at 200bc.. then at 2000 and then back to around 200. Either their economy is ridiculously good (which I doubt due to lack of trade) or they are just bullying people! It's time to put an end to their tyranny!

Unfortunately I need to go head to head with their dreads for now. They are floating around my inner systems picking off out dated ships. Thankfully my production might is started to catch up a bit!

Thanks for the input. Destabalizing seemed to help. One of their border worlds jumped to my side.

Excellent advice. Good to see you on the boards!

It's extremely important to find military resources...

One of my minor gripes about this game is that the resource location disappears in the fog of war if the AI builds a starbase. (So you know it's destroyed when it re-appears)

I guess it *sort of* makes sense, but it's annoying to try to hunt them all down... you'd think somebody in my empire would think it was worth jotting down the location.
