What's the point of this? It says that you discover things - is this like getting the bonus Precursor ships? Do you sometimes spontaneously research things?

Thanks a ton
Dave

I have tried this one myself and I do not see what it does different. I would like to know the real story behind this one, percentage really that much or high for discoveries? Thanks.

I tried it once and I believe it increases your chances of stumbling upon a tech that you aren't researching. The discovery comes as a random event. In the game I took it I only got one tech this way. It's a waste of a pick, IMO, when you can get +10% research for one point and you will get much further ahead in tech from it.

I have tried it in my current game; all I noticed is I possibly got slightly more "25% tech" anomalies. Not worth it, so far.

I'm positive it affects the barrier point at which you can research the techs that have alignment ratings. Since I had been playing tiny/rare maps, it was unusual to get even one plantary event, so I'd often stay in the 40-60 morality range indefinitely. However, with the Creativity advantage, I was able to get HyperWarp at a lower alignment than normal. Thus, it seems that a softening of the morality restrictions is at least one effect of the advantage.

Actually, it allows you to finish up research early on a teach. My last two games I've tried creativity and several times I've had 7 turns to go to research something and low and behold it was finished the next turn.
