It's 2218 and I have several different paths to victory. I coul propose Alliance to my brother Drenghin or simply continue on to god-like status technological heights. I'm at 83% Influence, so that's doable. And I could probably win a shooting war.

Which way to go for maximum points? Quickest win? Biggest difference (if any) between races at the end?

Cultural wins have been nerfed to the point they're not worth bothering. I scored 66 points on a cultural win, reloaded an autosave, took another 5 years (mostly because I had no military so I had to build up) to take the rest of the planets by combined culture/invasion, and wound up with a score almost 25 times higher.

I'm now playing with cultural victory turned off.

I haven't had a tech victory since 1.03, so I have no first-hand evidence, but I've heard that it scores lower now too, but not as dramatically lower.

Even short wars followed by cultural victory will give you much better scores. There is absolutely no reward for pacifism. You have to get into the fray.

Well, I went ahead and did an Alliance victory. It reporter 1305 "MPts" on the Overview (which I assume means Metaverse Points, but the Metaverse upload screen reported 652 points.

I notice, though, that the parameters on the later screen are wrong. All races are reportered as "Sub-normal", and the difficult level as "Suicidal". Is there a bug or three in 1.03?

It took another 5 years to get an Military victory, and at that I attacked well before I was in an optimal position (but as it turned out I couldn't have waited because of the Tech progress). Even though population was 3 times the Alliance victory, I earned 795 points on the Metaverse.

Then because I was so close to Tech victory, I went ahead and finished that way. 1582 points on the Metaverse! with all else nearly identical to the Military version. Oh, and the "Mpts" shown in the Tech victory overview were 792, proving that the Metaverse scoring and the in-game scoring seem to be unrelated.

All this on 1.03.

Make of it what you will.

A few unconfirmed observations:

1) It appears your monthly income also counts, so having a big fleet might lower your score somewhat due to maintenance costs.
2) I have the impression that both alliance and tech victories score quite well.
3) I suspect your ship and soldier loses will count against your score.

I have noticed that in game scoring in 1.04 and metaverse scores are now identical. It seems that in 1.04 a major factor in the score is time to victory and population seems to have less effect.
