Getting Aliens to Break Alliances

Hi, everyone,

I'm in the later parts of a game with a huge galaxy and there are only three of us still around. My two opponents, the Drengin and Yor, are allies. What means do I have to break them up? Or will I have to take down both of them at once? (I believe this is not possible in my game so I'm hoping I can get them at each others' throats.)

It might be possible to bribe the bigger one to attack the smaller, or you might be able to pick off some systems through culture and destabilization.

IIRC, you can't bribe AI to attack another with good relations (>warm?). As allies, they are probably still at close.

Cultural offensive is probably your best bet.

A neat trick I found out:

I was facing a 3 way AI alliance.
I attacked one of the AIs, took a couple planets, immediately sued for peace.

Next turn came, everybody at peace, no allies at war with me.

I repeated that technique until I owned the weakest of the alliance.

(eventually I screwed up and moved too many ships near 2nd empire, whole alliance went to war but I won)

the blitz works.
