After a rough start (even with good position) and surviving an initial war with the Torians, I found my planets almost enveloped culturally by the Torians and Arceans. The Alterans got wiped out early and the Yor, bless their mechanically-enhanced hearts, surrendered to me as I must of been the worst of their options. After I built a miltary and gained some culture and my color got a little healthier, I went after the Dregs as the Tories and Arcies have an alliance. After some nice fighting, they surrendered to me. I own a little less than a 1/3 of the galaxy but do not have near the influence (yet) as either of the others.
My question is this: if I gain an Alliance with the Arceans and go to war with the Torians, what will happen? Will the Arceans sit and watch or will I have to duke it out with both of them? I'm prepared to do so (oh, what fun! ) but is there some way to "neutrlize the existing alliance.
Who he decides to team with is decided by who he thinks has the best chance of winning or he may just decide to stay out of it all together as whoever wins will still be his ally.
In order to neutralize the alliance, you will have to ally with one of them and then get into a war with other. That I know works.
How the party allied to both of you decides who to join is not yet clear to me based on the various posts I've read and my own games. Is it initial aggressor? How much trade? Can't tell yet.
Thanks, Air. It seems to me that is what I need to do. I've placed all kinds of starbases in the two majors territory and am SLOWLY moving the culture in my favor. They are not attacking me (I'm too strong I reckon.) In one variation of this game I tried taking them both on but that doesn't work. I could take either one individually but...
I'd like to win this one because I should get some points since they had me by the short ones for a while. At one time, I was within 30 of the 1000 level (yes, I want the medal) but scoring has changed, and changed, and changed...
