I have learned the ropes a bit, thanks to help from several here. Because I love the game I have played it enough to make it to 33rd in the rankings as of June 14.

I do not see me playing the game enough to rise much higher, but I am a steady player. On boards I am civil and do not get into trash talking.

Generally, we have two types of empires here on Galciv. Locality-based and Theme-based ones.

If you are into Locality, the Mid-Western Confederation would seem to be the most appropriate based on your profile though all other Locality empires would value your participation as well.

There are also Theme-based ones like GROSS and the White Council among others which are also lots of fun.

My suggestion is for you to visit their Empire threads or websites and see how you like the culture over there. For the bigger empire threads (GROSS has 900 posts), you can just read the latest posts to get a flavour.

I am an avid fantasy reader, which likely makes the White Council a good choice. But I see that they are disbanding? What is the status with that? Does the WC
have its own website?

The White Council was almost disbanded as I had considered to leave some time ago. However, I changed my mind and have decided to press on the fight. The Council is alive and well and we have just recruited 4 new Wizards over the past 2 days (since the Summoning began).
